Brewers Enjoy Successful Day At ITA Northeast Regional

Two doubles teams through to quarterfinals

Saratoga Springs, NY – The Vassar College Women's Tennis team continued play at the ITA Northeast Regional on Saturday with a pair of doubles teams advancing to quarterfinals and senior Iris Li (Palo Alto, CA) earning a spot in the quarterfinals of the main singles draw.

Singles

Li opened play on Saturday with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Maya McDaniel from RIT in the Round of 16.
In the quarterfinal round, Li was outlasted by St. Lawrence's Molly Jespersen in a hard fought 6-4, 2-6, 4-6 decision.
Ananya Krishnan (Chesterbrook, PA) was also in action in the Round of 16 on Saturday, dropping a marathon 5-7, 7-6 (10-8), 3-6 decision to Eleni Dakos from TCNJ.

B Draw Singles

In the B draw singles competition, junior Sara Lippin (Chappaqua, NY) won a pair of matches for the Brewers.
Lippin opened play with an 8-6 triumph against Rochester's Katie Yang and moved on to the quarterfinals with a hard fought 8-7 (10-8) triumph over Margaret English from Skidmore.

B Draw Doubles

In the B doubles draw Lippin teamed with sophomore Liya Pomfret (Berkeley, CA) to win the bracket, scoring a trio pair of wins for the Brewers.
The duo opened the event with a an 8-0 blanking of their opponents from TCNJ.
In the semifinal match, Lippin and Pomfret battled their way to an 8-6 victory over a pair from William Smith.
Vassar's pair took the bracket with a hard fought 8-7 (7-5) win over a team from Union.

Doubles

In the main doubles draw, Vassar saw two pairs advance to the quarterfinal round on Saturday.
Following an 8-0 win in the opening round on Friday, Li and Erin McCusker (Norton, MA) posted an 8-2 victory over their opponents from Hamilton on Saturday to earn a spot in the quarterfinal round where they were tripped up by pair from NYU in a tough 8-4 decision.
Krishnan and Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) also advanced to the quarterfinal round on Saturday with an 8-6 victory.
In the quarterfinals, Vassar's duo was outlasted 8-6 by a pair from RIT.
