Brewers Begin Play At ITA Northeast Regional

Vassar wins three singles, two doubles matches

Saratoga Springs, NY – The Vassar College Women's Tennis team opened play in the ITA Northeast Regional on Friday, winning five singles matches and two doubles matches in the main draw. Seniors Iris Li (Palo Alto, CA) and Ananya Krishnan (Chesterbrook, PA) and sophomore Sieun Lee (Wake Forest, NC) were victorious for Vassar in the singles draw on Friday.

Singles

Krishnan opened the tournament in strong fashion on Friday for Vassar, scoring an impressive 6-0, 6-0 victory over Geneseo's Samantha Rava and advanced to the Round of 16 with a hard fought 8-5 victory against Meidani from Union.
Li was equally impressive for the Brewers on Friday, posting a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Skidmore's Beilynn Geiss before scoring an 8-3 triumph against Gabrielle Brideau from Skidmore.
Lee got off to a strong start for Vassar in singles play after earning a 6-2, 6-0 win against William Smith's Grace Magna.

Doubles

In doubles play, Li teamed with fellow senior Erin McCusker (Norton, MA) for an 8-0 blanking of Bard's Paige Houghton and Maria Castro.
Also victorious for the Brewers in doubles play were Krishnan and Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) who swept Baruch's Aishika Yadav and Maria Calvo Prado.

What's Next

Vassar will continue play in the regional championship Saturday morning at Skidmore.
