Women's Volleyball Topped at #RV Williams

Brewers close road trip against Mount Saint Mary on Friday

Williamstown, MA - The Vassar College Women's Volleyball team continued its four match road trip on Wednesday evening as the Brewers dropped a 19-25, 21-25, 18-25 decision against #RV Williams. Vassar's record drops to 8-3 overall while the Ephs remain unbeaten at 10-0 on the season.

First Set
  • Vassar took an early 5-3 lead following three kills from junior Maura McAusland, one winner from sophomore Erin Lovett and a block from Lovett and junior Holland Kaplan.
  • Williams gained its first lead of the night following an ace from Kate Lane and a kill from Tatum Baker at 10-8.
  • McAusland brought the Brewers back within a point at 11-10 on a kill but the Ephs scored six straight points to expand the advantage to 17-10 on a block from Keely Campuzano.
  • VC battled back to cut the lead to 23-18 after consecutive kills from Kaplan and McAusland along with a block from senior Rebecca Gutierrez and Kaplan.
  • Williams took the opening set at 25-19 on a kill from Chi Obi.
Second Set
  • The Brewers scored the first four points of the set after two aces and a kill from junior Francesca Medrano.
  • Williams took a lead of its own at 9-7 on a block from Obi and Helen Qian.
  • VC regained the lead at 15-14 behind two kills each from Kaplan and McAusland along with a winner from Lovett.
  • The Ephs pushed back in front at 21-17 following two winners apiece from Campuzano and Baker.
  • Two kills from McAusland put Vassar within three points at 24-21 but an Obi kill gave the Ephs the second set win.
Third Set
  • Two kills from Kaplan and McAusland and one winner from Gutierrez put VC ahead 7-4 to begin the third set.
  • A block from Qian and two kills from Campuzano evened the set at nine before McAusland put Vassar back on top 10-9.
  • Williams went on a five point run to take a 19-13 following two Campuzano kills and an ace from Baker.
  • A kill apiece from McAusland and Kaplan along with a Medrano ace put the Brewers within 23-17.
  • Winners from Obi and Qian clinched the match victory for Williams.
For The Brewers
  • McAusland tallied a match-high 16 kills (.394), 10 digs and an ace while Kaplan recorded 10 kills (.273), two blocks and five digs.
  • Gutierrez chipped in four kills and a block along with Lovett registering two kills and two blocks.
  • Medrano finished with 27 assists, three aces and six digs and senior Ellie Kogan lifted nine digs.
For The Ephs
  • Obi buried a match-high 16 winners (.762) while Campuzano tallied 14 kills (.480) and a solo block.
  • Baker registered seven kills, seven digs, a block and an ace along with Lane adding six kills, 12 digs and an ace.
  • Qian chipped in three kills and two blocks while Lilly Fox recorded three winners, an ace and a block.
  • Lily Carstens handed out a team-high 19 assists and had seven digs while Morgan Daetz finished with 16 assists and seven digs.
  • Eve Kaplan lifted 11 digs and added eight assists.
