Brewers Start Conference Play With Road Win At Bard

Four First Years tally in victory

Annandale-on-Hudson, NY – The Vassar College Women's Soccer team opened Liberty League play Wednesday evening with a 6-0 shutout victory at Bard. Four First Years scored in the win, including two goals from Ava Holman (St. Louis, MO) and the first career goal for rookie Braelynn Tomanio (Alexandria, VA).
 
Vassar improves to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in Liberty League play with the victory with the Raptors falling to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in conference action.
 
How It Happened
  • Vassar got the eventual game winning goal in the 22nd minute when First Year Sonya Franklin (Lancaster, PA) was on the end of passes from Riley McGrath (Coronado, CA) and Gianna Panarelli (Jensen Beach, FL) at the 21:31 mark of the contest.
  • Just under 12 minutes later Holman scored her first of the game, burying a feed from Samantha Ehrenreich (Palmetto Bay, FL) at 33:17 to close out the first half scoring.
  • Vassar controlled the opening 45 minutes on Wednesday, posting a 17-1 advantage in first half shots and a 2-0 edge in corner kicks.
  • Holman scored her second of the game just 29 seconds into the second half, tallying off of McGrath's second helper of the game, to push the Vassar advantage to 3-0.
  • Caroline Sheehan (Springfield, IL) found the back of the net for the second time this season at the 55:41 mark of the game to balloon the advantage to 4-0.
  • Tomanio found the scoring column for the first time in the 76th minute, depositing a pass from Olivia Spektor (Lawrenceville, NJ) to make the advantage five goals.
  • Sophomore Kloe Brown (Forney, TX) closed out the scoring with her first career goal in the 82nd minute to give the Brewers the final 6-0 decision.
  • Vassar rounded out the second half with a 17-0 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
 
For The Brewers
  • With two goals on Wednesday, Holman holds the team lead in markers with six and points with 12. Holman closed the night with four shots on goal.
  • Franklin scored for the fifth time in 2025 and tallied her second game winning goal of the season.
  • Sheehan tallied her second goal of the season and led the Brewers with six shots, putting three on target.
  • Tomanio became the 12th different Brewer to tally in 2025 with her first career goal in the second half.
  • Brown added her first career goal and became the 13th different plater to find the back of the net through the season's first nine games.
  • McGrath picked up two assists in the game and moved her season point total to 10, good for third on the team.
  • Ehrenreich recorded her second assist of the season on Holman's first goal of the game.
  • Spektor also recorded her second helper of the season.
  • Panarelli recorded her first helper of the season and moved her season point total to five.
  • Bella Stevens (Ann Arbor, MI) picked up the win in goal after playing the first 45 minutes in goal.
  • First Year Emily McMahon (Mill Valley, CA) combined on the shutout after coming on to play the second half.
 
For The Raptors
  • McKenna Reeves suffered the loss in goal, turning aside nine Vassar shots.
  • Mahlia Slaiby recorded Bard's only shot of the game.
 
Game Statistics
  • Vassar outshot Bard 34-1 overall and 17-0 in shots on goal.
  • Corner kicks went to the Brewers by a 7-1 count.
  • Fouls were called against the Raptors, 9-6.
