Field Hockey Shuts Out Kean, 4-0

Brewers post first shutout in 2025, move to 3-0 at home

Poughkeepsie, NY - Sophomore Zoe Robinson scored two goals and junior Grace Wiley scored her first shutout of the season in goal as the Vassar College Field Hockey team posted a 4-0 shutout victory over Kean on Wednesday night at Weinberg Field. Vassar's record improves to 4-2 overall and 3-0 at home while the Cougars drop to 3-2 on the season.

How It Happened
  • Vassar pulled ahead 1-0 about halfway through the opening quarter as senior Sofia Beseth tallied a penalty stroke goal for her fourth goal of the season.
  • The Brewers scored three goal in a matter of seven minutes in the second period as Robinson opened the second quarter scoring just two and a half minutes into the period.
  • Junior Karina Hoffman scored her third goal of the season about three minutes later and Robinson added her second goal of the contest on a nice feed from first year Julia Morris to put VC ahead 4-0 with six minutes remaining in the half.
  • Wiley made a big blocker save four minutes into the second half on a shot from Shannon Conroy to keep the shutout intact.
  • The Cougars earned a corner with 20 seconds left in the game and junior Anna Hazewindus made a defensive save to preserve the Brewers first shutout of the season.
For The Brewers
  • Robinson improves her team-leading mark in goals to six on the season with two goals on the day.
  • Beseth added her fourth tally of the season along with Hoffman scoring her third goal of the season.
  • Morris registered her first career collegiate assist and first year Sophia Jammar recorded three shots.
  • Hazewindus collected her first career defensive save.
  • Wiley earned her fourth victory of the season and first shutout on the campaign while making one save on the evening.
For The Cougars
  • Conroy recorded three shots, including two shots on goal, while Jazmyne Frack and Sophia Candeloro each added a shot.
  • Daniella Maresca took the loss as she made two saves in the first half while Saraya Nelson made two saves and didn't allow a goal in the second half.
Game Statistics
  • Vassar finished the evening outshooting Kean 14-5 and 8-2 in shots on goal.
  • The Brewers also held a 7-3 advantage in penalty corners.
