Vassar Rounds Out Play In Poughkeepsie Scramble

Brewers win all eight singles matches against Hamilton

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Women's Tennis team completed play in the three-day Poughkeepsie Scramble on Sunday, taking on Hamilton and New Paltz.

Vassar vs. Hamilton

Erin McCusker (Norton, MA) continued a strong start to the fall with a tough 7-5 victory at the top flight.
Iris Li (Palo Alto, CA) scored an identical 7-5 victory for the Brewers at the second flight on Sunday.
Sieun Lee (Wake Forest, NC) picked up her first singles win of the day with a 6-1 triumph at the third slot.
Ananya Krishnan (Chesterbrook, PA) continued an impressive weekend with a hard fought 7-6 (4) victory at the fourth position.
At the fifth flight, Liya Pomfret (Berkeley, CA) was victorious for Vassar with a 6-4 win.
Gwendolyn Gray (Montauk, NY) cruised to a 6-1 victory for Vassar at the sixth flight on Sunday.
Sara Lippin (Chappaqua, NY) also continued a strong start to the season with a 6-3 seventh flight victory.
Esme Nix (Altadena, CA) found the win column in the eighth flight with a 6-4 victory on Sunday.

Vassar vs. New Paltz

Vassar closed out the weekend with five singles wins and a trio of doubles victories against New Paltz.
Lee scored her second win of the day with an impressive 6-1 win at the third slot.
Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) battled for the Brewers win a 7-5 fourth flight victory.
Krishnan eased to a 6-1 win for the Brewers at the fifth flight.
Pomfret finished off a strong weekend with a 6-3 win at the sixth slot.
Gray scored a second win on Sunday, cruising to a 6-2 seventh flight victory.
In doubles play, Krishnan and Kirby teamed for a 6-3 second flight win.
Gray and Lee combined for a 6-0 blanking of their opponents at the third position.
Lippin and Pomfret were in action at the fourth position and came away with a 6-1 triumph.

What's Next

Vassar will return to action on September 26 when it opens play in the ITA Northeast Regional Championship at Skidmore.
