Women’s Tennis Opens Play In Poughkeepsie Scramble

Brewers in action for first time this fall

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Women's Tennis team took to the court for the first time this season on Friday, tussling with Marist and Smith on Day One of the 2025 Poughkeepsie Scramble.

Singles

In singles play on Friday, the Brewers won at the third flight against the Red Foxes and each of its four matches against Smith.
Sophomore Liya Pomfret (Berkeley, CA) earned a tight 7-5 victory over Marist's Lola Ungerman on Friday.
Against the Pioneers First Year Gwendolyn Gray (Montauk, NY) won her collegiate debut with a 6-2 third flight victory.
At the top flight against Smith, sophomore Sieun Lee (Wake Forest, NC) scored a 6-4 victory for the Brewers.
Senior Ananya Krishnan (Chesterbrook, PA) was in action at the second flight against Smith, earning a hard fought 7-5 victory.
Junior Sara Lippin (Chappaqua, NY) took a 6-2 fourth flight victory against Smith on Friday for Vassar.

Doubles

At the top doubles flight against the Red Foxes, Krishnan teamed with Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) for a 6-4 victory.
Both of the Brewers' squads went on to post victories on Friday against Smith.
At the top flight, Erin McCusker (Norton, MA) and Iris Li (Palo Alto, CA) cruised to a 6-1 victory.
Gray and Lippin teamed up for a 6-3 victory on Friday against Smith playing at the second flight.
