Brewers Settle For Draw Against Visiting New Paltz

Tobolski scores hat trick against Hawks

Poughkeepsie, NY – Sophomore Arden Tobolski (Chapel Hill, NC) netted his third career hat trick and posted his second multiple goal game of the season, but the Vassar College Men's Soccer team settled for a 3-3 draw with local rival New Paltz Wednesday afternoon at Gordon Field.
 
Wednesday's result moves Vassar to 2-1-1 through four contests, while New Paltz stands at 2-1-2 through its first five contests.
 
How It Happened
  • Tobolski accounted for all three of Vassar's goals in the game, including two before halftime.
  • Tobolski opened the scoring in the 17th minute when he finished off a passing play from Diego Pastor-Valverde (Durham, NC) and Jared Fiske (Livingston, NJ) at the 16:36 mark of the contest.
  • With just under three minutes left in the half, Tobokski scored his second of the game when he took a pass from Isaac Taegar (Metuchen, NJ) and chipped it into the back of the net at 42:07 to send the Brewers into the intermission with a 2-0 lead.
  • New Paltz finished the opening 45 minutes with a 6-4 advantage in shots.
  • Vassar closed the opening stanza with the only corner kick.
  • Coming out of halftime, Vassar stretched its lead to 3-0 at the 56:57 mark of the contest.
  • After a foul in the box, Tobolski completed the hat trick on a penalty kick to give Vassar a commanding three-goal advantage.
  • Trailing by three shots, New Paltz began its comeback at the 76:45 mark of the contest when Colin Brant found the back of the net for the second time this season.
  • The Hawks got a goal closer in the 86th minute when Ryan Bochenski completed a passing combination from Samuel Snider and Zack Beach at 85:59 to close the deficit to 3-2.
  • New Paltz pulled even just under a minute later when Alex Wyant converted a penalty kick to finish off the scoring in the game.
  • Each team got a shot off after the tying goal, with New Paltz keeper, Joe Washington, keeping Tobolski off the board in the final minute.
  • New Paltz outshot Vassar 13-4 in the second half and took five of the six second half corner kicks.
  • Washington made two saves after the break.
  • Jacob Raphan (Oceanside, NY) made a pair of stops in the second half for Vassar.
 
For The Brewers
  • Tobolski surged into the team lead in goals with five and points with 14 following Wednesday's hat trick. Tobolski finished the day with a team-high six shots.
  • Fiske recorded his 10th point on his second helper of the season.
  • Pastor-Valverde added his first assist of the season on the Brewers' opening goal.
  • Taegar collected his second helper of the season on Tobolski's second goal of the game.
  • Raphan finished the tilt with two saves in goal for Vassar.
 
For The Hawks
  • Brant and Wyant each scored their second goals of the season for New Paltz.
  • Bochenski entered the scoring column for the first time in 2025.
  • David Lamour, Snider and Beach all picked up assists in the game for the Hawks.
  • Washington closed the day with a trio of saves in goal.

  • New Paltz finished the game with a 19-8 advantage in overall shots, while Vassar held a slim 6-5 edge in shots on goal.
  • Corner kicks went to the Hawks by a 5-2 margin.
