Poughkeepsie, NY – Vassar College Director of Athletics and Physical Education
Michelle Walsh has announced the hiring of Nku Patrick as the inaugural Betty Richey Head Coach for Men's and Women's Squash. Patrick will officially begin his role on June 23.
said Walsh upon the announcement, "I am thrilled to name Nku Patrick as the inaugural Betty Richey Head Coach for Men's and Women's Squash. Nku is an outstanding squash player, having competed at the highest levels both internationally and in collegiate squash. His recent coaching experiences at SquashBusters and Northeastern will also help him hit the ground running as he works to elevate Vassar Squash back to national prominence. I am excited for the program under his leadership!"
A seasoned coach and former top-level player, Patrick most recently led Northeastern University's club squash teams from 2020 to 2025, overseeing recruitment, training, and player development. He has also served as the Middle and High School Coordinator at SquashBusters Boston since 2019, where he introduced the sport to students across Boston Public Schools and developed structured training for new and experienced players alike.
Previously, Patrick coached with PPS Squash in Connecticut and assisted with US Squash at national competitions.
"I'm honored to join the Vassar community as Head Coach of the Men's and Women's Squash programs. From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt the passion and potential surrounding this team. This is a great chance to build something meaningful — a program that competes with pride, fosters a strong sense of belonging, and reflects the values of the college. I'm especially committed to creating an environment where all players feel seen, supported, and proud to be part of something inclusive. I'm looking forward to developing student-athletes who bring intensity to the court, character off it, and a belief that together, we can raise the standard and create a culture that lasts and is highly competitive," stated Patrick.
As a player, Patrick competed at Trinity College, where he was a two-time national champion, Second Team All-NESCAC selection, and compiled a 55-2 career record. He represented Trinidad and Tobago as a seven-time National Junior Champion and reached a career-high ranking of #38 on the SDA Pro Tour.
Patrick holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Trinity College and is a USA Squash Level I certified coach.
