Four Brewers Named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District

Brewers recognized for academic and athletic excellence

Greenwood, IN – The 2025 Liberty League Champion Vassar College Women's Tennis team had four student-athletes honored on Tuesday with Academic All-District recognition. Seniors Macey Dowd (Orinda, CA), Elyse Duley (Charlotte, NC) and Sofie Shen (New York, NY) as well as junior Iris Li (Palo Alto, CA) all earned academic citations from the College Sport Communicators for their work on the court and in the classroom.

Dowd, a Sociology major at Vassar, completed a standout career for the Brewers in 2025. Dowd was one of four Brewers to record as many as 10 singles wins over the course of the spring, posting an 11-6 record which included an unblemished 7-0 mark against conference opponents. Dowd, who was a part of the Liberty League Doubles Team of the Week on three occasions, added 14 doubles victories over the course of the spring, including a sterling 13-4 mark while playing with Li at the second position.

Duley, a Physics and Astronomy major, concluded her Vassar career with 20 combined victories in 2024-25. Duley earned eight singles wins this spring, including a 7-1 mark playing out of the sixth position for the Brewers. Duley teamed with three different doubles partners over the course of the spring to post 12 victories, finding success with Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) at the third slot with the duo posting an impressive 10-4 record.

Shen, A Psychological Science major, returned to the Vassar lineup after missing the majority of the 2023-24 campaign due to injury. Shen went 6-4 in singles play for the Brewers during the spring and teamed with Erin McCusker (Norton, MA) for seven triumphs playing at the top doubles flight. Shen and McCusker were tabbed the Liberty League Doubles Team of the Week on April 14.

Li, an Earth Science major, had a standout season for the Brewers that featured five Liberty League Singles Performer of Week nods, including the final three of the spring season. Li posted a standout 14-2 singles record playing out of the second position and won a hard fought 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) decision against Skidmore on May 4 that clinched the Brewers first Liberty League Championship since 2010. Li went on to team with Dowd for a trio of Liberty League Doubles Team of the Week awards after the duo posted a 13-4 record. LI has advanced to the CSC Academic All-American ballot with teams announced on June 3.

Vassar finished the 2024-25 season with a 15-6 overall record and a 7-1 mark in Liberty League play. The Brewers earned their ninth Liberty League title in program history, made their 11th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Second Round for the seventh time with a 4-0 victory over Hunter on May 9.
