Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Men's Tennis team eased to a 7-0 non-conference victory over Nichols on Saturday inside Walker Field House. Senior
James Balon (Winnetka, IL) picked up his team leading ninth singles win of the season in the contest.
Saturday's win pushes Vassar to 6-7 overall, while Nichols slips to 4-10 on the season.
Doubles
- Vassar clinched the doubles with points with a sweep of the three matches.
- The Brewers' top pair of Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) and Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) moved to 4-3 on the season with a 6-3 victory.
- At second doubles, Balon and Joaquin Gil (Brooklyn, NY) teamed together for the first time on the season and scored a 6-3 victory.
- Arnav Agostinho (Brooklyn, NY) and Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NY) moved to 4-2 as a unit with a 6-1 third doubles win.
Singles
- The Brewers carried the doubles momentum into singles play with a sweep of all six matches.
- Baumeister moved to 6-5 in singles play on Saturday with a 6-1, 7-5 victory at the top flight.
- Lee scored his fifth win of the season after easing to a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the second position.
- Agostinho also won for the fifth time on the year with a 6-4, 6-0 third singles win.
- At the fourth slot, First Year Joseph Braun (Albuquerque, NM) collected his fifth triumph with a 6-4, 6-1 win.
- Balon blanked Nichols' Mason Harris 6-0, 6-0 at the fifth position to improve to 9-4 on the season.
- Gil continued a steady rookie season at the sixth position, scoring a 6-2, 6-3 win to improve to 6-4 on the year.
