Women’s Lacrosse Closes Out Regular Season Against #10 William Smith

Trio of Brewers record three points

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Women's Lacrosse team closed out the 2025 regular season on Saturday with a 21-8 loss to #10 William Smith. Tess Billings (Deerfield, IL) scored three times and a trio of Brewers recorded three points in the contest.
 
Saturday's loss finishes Vassar's regular season at 10-5 and 5-5 in conference play, while William Smith improves to 12-3 overall and a perfect 10-0 against league rivals.
 
How It Happened
  • An Elizabeth Burgess (Columbus, OH) goal with just under nine minutes left in the first period opened Vassar's account in the game and brought the Brewers to within 2-1.
  • The Herons responded with the next two goals and five of the final seven of the opening stanza to grab a 7-3 lead through 15 minutes.
  • Sigrid Fredlund (Seattle, WA) and Billings supplied the other two first quarter goals for the Brewers.
  • William Smith tallied the first three goals of the second frame to surge in front 11-3 with 9:23 left before halftime.
  • Vassar ripped off the next three goals, getting a goal and an assist from Fredlund, to slice its deficit to 11-6 with just under two minutes left before the break.
  • Katherine Murray scored in the final 60 seconds of the quarter to send the Herons into the intermission with a 12-6 advantage.
  • Billings got the third quarter scoring started for Vassar inside the first minute of the second half and Reilly Mulcahy scored at the 8:27 mark of the third frame to get Vassar to within 14-8.
  • The Mulcahy marker would prove to be the Brewers' final goal of the contest with the Herons scoring the final seven goals of the game to pull away for the final 13-goal advantage.
 
For The Brewers
  • Billings tallied three times, including her team leading 30th goal of the campaign. Billings rounded out Saturday's contest with four draw controls.
  • Fredlund and Reilly Mulcahy (Arlington, VA) each finished with two goals and an assist with Fredlund securing two groundballs.
  • Catherine Peacock (Stockton, NJ) won three draws and scooped two groundballs.
  • Emilia DiLiberto (Allison Park, PA) forced a pair of turnovers, won a draw control and picked up a groundball.
  • Bree MacMullen (Medford, NJ) finished the day with nine saves in goal to go along with two groundballs.
 
For The Herons
  • Taryn Luzi closed a big day with seven goals on eight shots.
  • Katherine Murray produced five points on the strength of a hat trick and two assists.
  • Kate Colvin scored a hat trick and won eight draw controls.
  • Mia Falcon finished the victory with two tallies and four helpers.
  • Kayla Quirk won six draws, forced three turnovers, scooped three groundballs and chipped in two goals.
  • Delaney Cassidy scored a goal and added three draw controls, three groundballs and a pair of forced turnovers.
  • Maura Smeader earned the victory with three saves in goal for the Herons.

  • William Smith held the advantage in overall shots 39-20 and shots on goal 31-11.
  • The Herons won the draw control battle, 20-12.
