Vassar Topped By #23 Ithaca In First Round Of Liberty League Championship

Six Brewers record multiple points against Bombers

Ithaca, NY – The Vassar College Women's Lacrosse team saw its 2025 season come to an end Tuesday afternoon following a 19-10 loss at #23 Ithaca in the First Round of the Liberty League Championship. Reilly Mulcahy (Arlington, VA) led six players with multiple points with a team-high four on Tuesday.
 
Vassar's season comes to a close at 10-6 overall while Ithaca advances to the Semifinal Round and improves to 11-6.
 
How It Happened
  • A tightly contested first quarter featured nine goals with Ithaca carrying a 5-4 lead into the second stanza.
  • Vassar opened the scoring 29 seconds into the tilt when Siena Wong (Scotts Valley, CA) potted her 16th goal of the season.
  • Ithaca came back with the next three goals before Vassar got tallies from Elizabeth Burgess (Columbus, OH) and Ameilia Poirier (Atherton, CA) to bring the Brewers to within 3-2.
  • Wong scored her second goal of the game at the 7:10 mark of the quarter to even the score at 4-4 before Ithaca's Lily Cody scored with just under six minutes left to close out the scoring in the opening stanza.
  • Ithaca broke the game open in the second frame after outscoring Vassar 9-1.
  • The Bombers scored the first four goals of the quarter, including two goals and an assist from Cody top surge in front 9-4 with 9:30 left before halftime.
  • Tess Billings (Deerfield, OH) stopped the Ithaca run, finishing off a feed from Burgess at the 6:28 mark of the quarter.
  • Ithaca came back with the final five goals of the stanza, getting another goal and two helpers from Cody to take a 14-5 lead into halftime.
  • Coming out of the break, Ithaca scored the first two goals of the third quarter before Poirier potted her second of the game to make the score 16-6.
  • The Bombers scored the final goal of the third frame and the first two goals of the final period to break open a 19-6 advantage.
  • The Brewers scored the final four goals of the contest, getting two goals apiece from Emilia DiLiberto (Allison Park, PA) and Maddie Kaltsas (Minnestra, MN) to bring Vassar to within the final nine-goal deficit.
 
For The Brewers
  • Mulcahy assisted on four goals, including the final two goals of the game, to finish the season with a team-high 48 points. Mulcahy rounds out her career with 117 points for the Brewers.
  • DiLiberto finished the day with two goals and three points to go along with seven draw controls and three groundballs.
  • Burgess rounds out a strong rookie season with a goal and two helpers, finishing the season with 38 points.
  • Wong, Poirier and Kaltsas all closed the game with a pair of markers.
  • Catherine Peacock (Stockton, NJ) won five draw controls.
  • Billings finished with a goal and four draws for the Brewers.
  • Olivia Del Tatto (Bayville, NY) led the team with two caused turnovers.
  • Bree MacMullen (Medford, MA) suffered the loss with four saves in goal.
  • Cassidy Schuchat (Hopewell Junction, NY) came on to make three stops in just over 20 minutes of work.
 
For The Bombers
  • Cody led the way with nine points on the strength of five goals and four helpers. Cody added seven draw controls and a groundball.
  • Elizabeth Green scored four times and won three draws.
  • Kelly Augeri supported the scoring attack with three goals and two assists.
  • Juliana Esposito and Maggie Mandel each forced two turnovers with Mandel collecting three groundballs.
  • Mikaela Dattilo earned the win in goal with six saves.
Game Statistics
  • Ithaca outshot Vassar 30-22 overall and 26-16 in shots on goal.
  • Vassar closed the game with a 19-13 advantage in draw controls.
  • Ithaca dominated groundballs, 20-8.
