Bergman Collects 100th Career Hit in 4-2 Comeback Victory Over Mount Saint Vincent

Jemison drives in game-winning runs with eighth inning single

Poughkeepsie, NY - Senior Taison Jemison knocked in two runs on a single in the eighth inning and junior Jensen Bergman tallied his 100th career hit to lead the Vassar College Baseball team to a 4-2 victory over the University of Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday afternoon at Prentiss Field. Vassar's record improves to 12-16 on the season while the Dolphins drop to 16-13 overall.

How It Happened
  • Vassar opened the scoring in the first following a RBI single up the middle from senior Luke Barrientos that plated classmate Birch Herring-Jackson.
  • The Dolphins loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth but senior Juan Mercado induced a fielder's choice groundout along with two strikeouts to keep Vassar ahead 1-0.
  • Mount Saint Vincent took a 2-1 lead in the sixth after Will Granata singled to lead off and later came across to score on a throwing error. Paul Constantino's RBI single knocked in Andrew Farina to put the Dolphins ahead.
  • The Brewers struck for three runs in the eighth to regain the lead as senior Michael Lee scored on a wild pitch and Jemison laced a single through the left side to score two runs to put Vassar ahead 4-2.
For The Brewers
  • Herring-Jackson reached base in all five at-bats with two hits, two walks and a hit by pitch while Jemison added two hits and two runs batted in.
  • Barrientos recorded two hits and a RBI while Bergman tallied his 100th career hit on a single and scored a run.
  • Seniors Marc Milano and Daniel Laderman both registered a hit.
  • First year Kyle Donlon earned his first collegiate victory with a scoreless eighth inning and struck out two.
  • Barrientos picked up his fourth save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.
For The Dolphins
  • Granata finished 3-for-5 with a run scored while Constantino recorded a hit and a run batted in.
  • Kaden Cole took the loss as he went 0.1 innings, allowing three runs and two walks.
  • Jake Bland and Alex Alvarez each tossed two scoreless innings each.
