Brewers Stop Skid With Road Win At Stockton

10 different Brewers record point in victory

Galloway, NJ – The Vassar College Men's Lacrosse team stopped a seven-game losing streak Wednesday evening with a hard fought 12-10 road win at Stockton in its non-conference finale. Junior Anderson Eads (Brightwaters, NY) led 10 different players with at least a point with five and Holden Anderson (Windham, ME) won 15 face-offs in the victory.
 
Wednesday's victory moves Vassar to 5-8 overall on the season while Stockton falls back to the .500 mark at 8-8 overall.
 
How It Happened
  • Stockton got out of the gate quickly with four of the first five goals of the contest, including two from Riley Burns.
  • Eads opened the Vassar account at the 5:15 mark of the first quarter with a player-up goal and after the Ospreys grabbed a 4-1 lead, Anderson won the face-off and scored six seconds later to bring the Brewers to within 4-2 after 15 minutes of play.
  • The two teams split six goals in the second frame with Stockton carrying a 7-5 lead into the intermission.
  • Liam McGuire (Rochester, NY) got the Brewers to within 4-3 with the first goal of the second frame and Tate Tinker (Lexington, KY) scored while the Brewers were a player-down at the 2:05 mark to cut the deficit to 6-5.
  • Stockton got a player-up goal from Jack Vandegrift with just under two minutes left in the half to send the Ospreys to the break with a two-goal cushion.
  • Vassar stifled the Ospreys in the second half, allowing just three goals after the break.
  • The Brewers scored the first four goals of the third frame, including player-up goals from Tinker and Baker Morton (West Hartford, VT), to take their first lead of the game.
  • Leading 9-7 after three periods, Vassar outscored Stockton 3-2 in the final frame to close out the victory.
  • Stockton would climb to within a goal twice in the final stanza, but two goals from Eads would give the Brewers the final two-goal advantage.
 
For The Brewers
  • Eads led the offensive attack with four goals and five points.
  • Arcuri closed the day with two goals and two helpers, pushing his team-highs to 14 assists and 36 points. Arcuri added three groundballs and a caused turnover.
  • Morton and Tinker each scored two goals and collected a groundball.
  • John Malone (Devon, PA) and Jack Rufa (New Milford, CT) each assisted on two goals with Malone securing five groundballs.
  • Anderson went 15-for-23 in face-offs in the game and led the squad nine groundballs.
  • Kieran Chai-Onn (Rockville, MD) and Matteo Roman (Arlington, VA) both finished with a pair of caused turnovers and three groundballs.
  • Beckett Wolf (Park City, UT) rounded out the victory with four groundballs and a caused turnover.
  • Drew Quinn (Garden City, NY) earned the win in goal with 14 saves and a groundball.
 
For The Ospreys
  • Connor Albrecht paced Stockton with two goals and four points, adding two groundballs.
  • Burns netted a hat trick and collected a groundball.
  • Hunter Vanzant and Josh Graham each scored two goals.
  • Vandergrift chipped in a goal and an assist.
  • Mike Cuzzola won nine face-offs and secured three groundballs.
  • Chris Funston, Jared Long and Shane Phillips all caused two turnovers and collected two groundballs.
  • Ben Blum suffered the loss in goal with 16 saves.
