Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Women's Tennis team scored its fifth straight victory on Sunday with a 7-0 sweep of visiting RIT. Sunday's victory keeps Vassar unbeaten in conference play through the first four contests.
Vassar stands at 8-4 overall on the season and 4-0 in conference play, while RIT falls to 4-9 overall and 1-4 against league rivals.
Doubles
- The Brewers cruised to the doubles point with a trio of 6-1 victories against the Tigers.
- Erin McCusker (Norton, MA) and Sofie Shen (New York, NY) improved to 5-1 at the top position.
- Iris Li (Palo Alto, CA) and Macey Dowd (Orinda, CA) continued a strong season and moved to 9-1 on the season at the second slot.
- Vassar's third pair of Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) and Elyse Duley (Charlotte, NC) pushed their record to 6-1 with Sunday's victory.
Singles
- McCusker won her fifth straight match on Sunday with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
- Dowd moved up to the second position on Sunday and eased to a 6-1, 6-1 triumph.
- First Year Sieun Lee (Wake Forest, NC) improved to 7-4 on the season at the third slot, blanking the opponent from RIT 6-0, 6-0.
- At the fourth slot Ananya Krishnan (Chesterbrook, PA) cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory for the Brewers.
- Duley remined unbeaten on the season, improving to 6-0, with a 6-1, 6-1 fifth singles victory.
- Kirby was in action at sixth singles against the Tigers and eased to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph.
