Men’s Lacrosse Drops Home Decision To Trinity (CT)

Quinn makes 11 saves in goal

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Men's Lacrosse team suffered its third straight loss Wednesday afternoon, dropping a 9-4 home decision to #RV Trinity (CT). Anderson Eads (Brightwaters, NY) and Shane O'Hara (Warrenton, VA) each posted two points and senior Drew Quinn (Garden City, NY) made 11 saves in goal.
 
Wednesday's loss drops Vassar back to the .500 mark at 4-4 overall, while the Bantams improve to 6-2 on the season.
 
How It Happened
  • Vassar got off to a strong start, scoring the first three goals of the game inside the first four-and-a-half minutes of action.
  • O'Hara opened the scoring 1:56 into the tilt, finishing off a feed from O'Hara.
  • First Year Drew Mazzocco (Leesburg, VA) found the back of the net just 34 seconds later, burying a feed from O'Hara to make the score 2-0.
  • Baker Morton (West Hartford, CT) potted his seventh goal of the year at the 10:35 mark of the opening period to give the Brewers the early three-goal advantage.
  • Trinity finally broke through with back-to-back goals to close out the first period.
  • Jake Connors opened the Trinity scoring with 5:35 left in the frame before Bo Page made the score 3-2 with 16 seconds left.
  •  Eads pushed the Vassar lead back to 4-2 early in the second frame with what proved to be the Brewers' final goal of the game.
  • Following the Eads goals, Trinity scored the final seven goals of the contest.
  • Colin Sullivan and Cam Elenteny scored to finish off the first half scoring and in the process brought the Bantams even at 4-4 heading into the intermission.
  • Trinity held Vassar off the board in the second half, outscoring the Brewers 5-0 over the final 30 minutes.
  • Sullivan added his second goal of the game to start the third quarter scoring with Ethan Cobb and Jon Krikorian adding third stanza markers.
  • Cobb posted a goal and an assist in a two-goal fourth period as Trinity finished off the five-goal victory.
 
For The Brewers
  • Eads and O'Hara each finished the contest with a goal and an assist with O'Hara collecting two groundballs.
  • Mazzocco and Morton both scored once and collected a groundball for the Brewers.
  • Kieran Chai-Onn (Rockville, MD) anchored the Brewers' defense with three caused turnovers and four groundballs.
  • Aiden Santoro (Watermill, NY) and Hayden Sofield (Long Beach, NY) each forced two turnovers and secured a pair of groundballs.
  • Holden Anderson (Windham, ME) won three face-offs and totaled three groundballs.
  • Quinn reached double-figures in saves for the third straight game and fifth time this season with 11 stops. Quinn added four groundballs for the Brewers.
 
For The Bantams
  • Cobb closed a big day with two goals and four points.
  • Miles Harvey, Page and Elenteny all posted a goal and an assist.
  • Sullivan scored twice.
  • Carter Barford forced a game-high four turnovers and collected five groundballs.
  • Rory McAloon finished with six groundballs and two caused turnovers.
  • Theodore Sachs picked up five groundballs.
  • Hayden Shin went 13-for-17 in face-offs and totaled four groundballs.
  • Jordan Opdahl was busy in goal, earning the win with 17 saves.
 
Game Statistics
  • Trinity finished with a slim 45-42 edge in overall shots, while Vassar outshot the Bantams 21-20 in shots on goal.
  • Trinity controlled face-offs 13-4.
