Orlando, FL – The Vassar College Men's Tennis team suffered a 4-0 loss on Saturday afternoon to Division II Lynn University who is ranked #38 in the latest ITA National Poll.
Saturday's loss drops Vassar to 2-4 overall on the season, while Lynn improves to 7-3 through its first 10 matches.
Doubles
- Lynn clinched the doubles point on Saturday after taking the second and third doubles positions.
- Vassar's top pair of Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) and James Balon (Winnetka, IL) were locked in a tight battle at the top spot, trailing 5-3 as the point was clinched.
Singles
- Vassar was locked in competitive singles matches at the time the match was clinched with the first, second and sixth positions going unfinished.
- Bauermeister led by a set at the top flight, leading 6-4, 3-5 before the match was halted.
- At two, Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) was even at 1-1, battling back after a 2-6 first set loss to even the match in the second with a 6-3 victory. Lee was trailing 0-3 when the match was stopped.
- Joseph Braun (Albuquerque, NM) was ahead in the second set after dropping the first frame at the sixth slot. After falling behind following a 2-6 first set, Braun was leading 4-3 in the second.
