Box Score Los Angeles, CA – The Vassar College Women's Tennis team battled hard in a 5-2 loss to #19 Sewanee Monday afternoon at the Mountain Gate Country Club in Los Angeles, CA.
Erin McCusker (Norton, MA) and
Iris Li (Palo Alto, CA) won singles matches for the Brewers at the top two positions.
Monday's loss drops Vassar to 2-3 overall on the season, while Sewanee improves to 5-5 through 10 matches.
Doubles
- The Tigers won the doubles point on Monday with victories at the first and third positions.
- Macey Dowd (Orinda, CA) and Li continued a strong start to the season for Vassar with a 6-4 victory at the second position.
Singles
- McCusker won for the second time this spring after scoring a 6-1, 7-5 win at the first flight against the Tigers.
- Li improved to 3-1 in four singles matches after outlasting Sewanee's Sarah Livingston at the second position by scores of 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 6-1.
- First Year Sieun Lee (Wake Forest, NC), who was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Week earlier on Monday, battled for the Brewers at the third slot before dropping a hard fought 6-0, 1-6, 6-7 (5-10) decision.
- Sofie Shen (New York, NY) was in action at the fifth slot on Monday and suffered a 7-5, 1-6, 4-6 defeat.
