Davenport, FL - The Vassar College Baseball team continued action at the RussMatt Invitational on Monday as the Brewers fell late to Saint Joseph (CT), 9-5, in non-league action. Vassar's record drops to 2-1 overall while the Blue Jays improve to 5-2 on the season.

How It Happened
  • Vassar opened up the scoring in the first inning as seniors Birch Herring-Jackson and Marc Milano each drew a walk followed by senior Ricardo Reyna being hit by a pitch to load the bases with two outs.

  • The Blue Jays cut the deficit in half in the top of the third on Chase Belisle's RBI triple, who later came across to score on a double play to make it 4-2.
  • Saint Joseph loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth but Vassar sophomore Sage Roy-Burman limited the damage to just one run on a Joseph Fritz sacrifice fly to keep the Brewers ahead 4-3.
  • VC tacked on a run in the bottom half of the fourth following a two-out single from junior Jensen Bergman, who scored from first on a double to the left center gap by Milano.
  • JJ Fox drew a bases loaded walk and then Jack Kane singled through the middle to score two runs to give the Blue Jays a 6-5 lead in the sixth.
