Men’s Lacrosse Battles Past Oneonta, 8-4

Four Brewers produce two points

Oneonta, NY – The Vassar College Men's Lacrosse team won for the second time in as many outings on Saturday, taking a tight 8-4 road decision at Oneonta. Four Brewers finished the contest with two points, including Anderson Eads (Brightwaters, NY) who scored a pair of goals.
 
Saturday's win moves Vassar to 2-0 on the season, while Oneonta is now winless is two outings in 2025.
 
How It Happened
  • Vassar scored the only goal of the first period on Saturday with First Year John Malone (Devon, PA) opening the scoring at the 6:35 mark of the opening stanza.
  • The Brewers pushed their advantage to 3-0 with the first two goals of the second period.
  • Shane O'Hara (Warrenton, VA) scored early in the second frame, with Baker Morton (West Hartford, VT) tallying just under two minutes later to give Vassar a three-goal advantage.
  • After the Red Dragons got on the board just under five minutes into the quarter, Eads and Patrick Egg (Pittstown, NJ) scored in the final 4:02 of the first half to send Vassar into the intermission with a 5-1 lead.
  • Eads opened the third period scoring with a player-up goal to move the Brewers in front by five goals.
  • The Red Dragons tallied consecutive goals to pull to within 6-3, but Vassar got goals from Jack Rufa (New Milford, CT) late in the third and a Gavin Arcuri (Westhampton, NY) with five minutes left to secure the victory.
 
For The Brewers
  • Eads led the scoring attack with two goals and recorded six shots on the day.
  • Malone and O'Hara each finished with a goal and an assist with O'Hara collecting a pair of groundballs.
  • Arcuri, Rufa and Egg all scored a goal.
  • Arcuri, Hayden Stoltzfoos (Tampa, FL) and Hayden Sofield (Long Beach, NY) led the team with three groundballs apiece.
  • Matteo Roman (Arlington, VA) paced the team with two caused turnovers and collected a pair of groundballs.
  • Drew Quinn (Garden City, NY) earned the win in goal with a season-high 12 saves for the Brewers.
 
For The Red Dragons
  • Jamie O'Neil led the team with two goals and three points.
  • Matthew Kreig finished the day with a goal and an assist.
  • Thomas Hnis caused two turnovers and joined Aidan Greene with a team-high four groundballs.
  • Mark Restivo suffered the loss in goal, making nine saves on the day.
