Canton, NY – The Vassar College Men's Squash team finished the 2025 Liberty League Championship 2-1, posting an 8-1 win over Bard and 5-4 victory against Hobart. The victory against the Statesmen marks the first win against Hobart since February 17, 2006.
With two wins on Saturday, Vassar stands at 7-10 overall on the season.
For The Brewers – Bard
- The Brewers posted 3-0 wins in positions 2-7 against the Raptors.
- Jarid Haslinger (Los Angeles, CA) scored a 11-2, 11-3, 11-4 victory for Vassar at the second position.
- Junior Kyle Benson (Bronx, NY) was also impressive at three, posting an 11-3, 11-0, 11-2 win.
- Luke Chen (Bellevue, WA) eased to an 11-1, 11-2, 11-1 triumph at the fourth position.
- Razaan Lalji (West Vancouver, BC) posted his 11th win of the season playing at the fifth slot, scoring an 11-5, 11-3, 11-1 win.
- Sophomore Gabriel Lugo (East Hartford, CT) swept the opponent at six by scores of 11-3, 11-1, 11-1.
- At seven, Daniel Smith (Littleton, CO) dispatched the opponent from Bard by scores of 11-1, 11-4, 11-7.
For The Brewers – Hobart
- The Brewers posted their first win over the Statesmen since a 6-3 win back on February 17, 2006, a span of 22 matches.
- Although Hobart won at the top four positions, the Brewers scored wins at slots 5-9 to secure the victory.
- Lalji posted his 12th win of the season, and second of the day, with an 11-4, 14-12, 11-6 victory at the fifth position.
- Playing at six, Lugo swept the opponent from Hobart by scores of 12-10, 11-8, 11-8.
- Patrick Looby (Westport, CT) went the distance seven and secured a hard fought 11-7, 3-11, 8-11, 14-12, 11-8 win at seven.
- The eighth position match saw Smith score a second win on the day with an 11-8, 11-4, 11-9 sweep.
- Joseph Donato (Staten Island, NY) found the win column at nine with a 11-4, 11-5, 11-3 victory for the Brewers.
For The Brewers – Haverford
- The Brewers suffered 3-0 losses in all nine decisions against the Fords.
- At one Konstantinos Georgallides (Limassol, Cyprus) battled in a tough 6-11, 6-11, 5-11 decision at one.
- Haslinger put together a strong effort for the Brewers at two in a 4-11, 10-12, 2-11 defeat.
- Benson battled for Vassar at three in a 5-11, 8-11, 6-11 loss.
- Chen competed at four, dropping a tough 6-11, 7-11, 5-11 decision.
- Playing at seven, Looby was topped in a hard fought 4-11, 10-12, 8-11 defeat.
