Nine Brewers Record Multiple Points In Road Win At Farmingdale State

Mulcahy, Burgess total five points apiece

Farmingdale, NY – Senior Reilly Mulcahy (Arlington, VA) and First Year Elizabeth Burgess (Columbus, OH) each totaled five points and nine Brewers finished with multiple points Wednesday night as the Vassar College Women's Lacrosse team scored a 19-9 road win at Farmingdale State.
 
Wednesday's victory moves Vassar to 2-0 on the season, while the Rams start the 2025 season at 0-1.
 
How It Happened
  • Vassar outscored Farmingdale State in each quarter, including 4-2 in the opening frame.
  • The Brewers opened a 3-0 lead with Burgess scoring twice around a tally from Tess Billings (Deerfield, IL).
  • After the Rams pulled to within 3-2, Mulcahy closed out the first quarter scoring with her first of the game with 61 seconds left in the first period.
  • Vassar scored three more goals in the second frame, getting back-to-back player-down goals from Billings and Burgess to make the score 6-3.
  • Mulcahy scored for the second time in the game with 11 seconds left before halftime to send the Brewers into the intermission with a 7-4 advantage.
  • Coming out of the break, the Brewers surrendered the first goal of the third frame before Kali Ringler (North Andover, MA) and Sigrid Fredlund (Seattle, WA) netted consecutive goals to push the advantage to 10-5.
  • Megan Sweeney (Orlando, FL) and Fredlund scored the final two goals of the third frame in the final 1:12 to send the lead to 13-7 with 15 minutes left to play.
  • Vassar stretched its scoring run to four goals with the first two tallies of the final stanza, getting a player-down goal from Siena Wong (Scotts Valley, CA) and a player-up goal from Emilia DiLiberto (Allison Park, PA).
  • The Brewers finished off the contest with four of the final five goals, getting tallies from Emily Kallman (Jamestown, RI), Wong, Annebelle Tracy (Warwick, RI) and Maddie Kaltsas (Minnetrista, MN).
 
For The Brewers
  • Burgess finished the victory with five goals and added three groundballs.
  • Mulcahy scored twice and assisted on three goals, finishing a strong game with two groundballs, two caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls.
  • Wong, Billings and Fredlund each scored twice and posted an assist.
  • DiLberto scored once and added two assists to go along with seven draw controls.
  • Ringler and Kaltsas each posted a goal and an assist.
  • Elizabeth Kendrick (Big Sky, MT) assisted on two goals for the Brewers.
  • Amelia Poirier (Atherton, CA) won 10 draw controls for the Brewers and caused a turnover.
  • Bree MacMullen (Medford, NJ) earned the win in goal with four saves over 45 minutes.
  • Cassidy Schuchat (Hopewell Junction, NY) made a trio of stops in 15 minutes of action.
 
For The Rams
  • Olivia Cassese led Farmingdale State with four goals and added three caused turnovers, two groundballs and two draw controls.
  • Emily Sohm posted a hat trick and collected two groundballs.
  • Sarah Fava led the team with four groundballs and four caused turnovers.
  • Molly Espey won five draw controls and collected three groundballs.
  • Giavanna Stamatelo suffered the loss in goal, making 16 saves.
