Poughkeepsie, NY - The Vassar College Women's Volleyball team cruised to back-to-back sweeps on Saturday afternoon as the Brewers toppled RIT in league action 25-11, 25-18, 25-16 before sweeping King's (PA) 25-20, 25-14, 25-10 in Kenyon Hall. Vassar's record improves to 16-7 overall and 4-4 in Liberty League, earning the fifth seed in the Liberty League Championship, where the Brewers will head to fourth-seeded Skidmore on Tuesday, November 11 for the First Round.
Vassar 3 - RIT 0
First Set
- Vassar opened the match with seven straight points on three kills from junior Maura McAusland, one winner from sophomore Erin Lovett and an ace from junior Francesca Medrano.
- The lead expanded to 16-3 on kills from junior Holland Kaplan, Lovett and McAusland along with an ace from junior T Petro.
- RIT got back within 19-9 on two kills from Stella Appen and an ace from Jada Lee.
- Following kills from Anaiyah Sims and Anna Wasula to make it 21-11, the Brewers collected the final four points of the set behind a block from first year Elena Feuer and Kaplan.
Second Set
- The set opened at six apiece before VC used kills from senior Rebecca Gutierrez, Kaplan and Medrano and an ace from Petro to push in front 12-6.
- Four straight points from the Tigers on two Jacqueline Wittemen aces and a kill from Appen.
- Vassar's lead expanded to 19-14 on two kills from Kaplan, a winner each from Gutierrez and Feuer along with an ace from first year Summer Stern.
- Sims' winner reduced the advantage to 22-18 before the Brewers clinched the second set following kills from McAusland and Feuer.
Third Set
- The Brewers began the third set with a 6-1 lead after kills from Lovett, McAusland, Kaplan and Feuer.
- Petro's ace pushed VC back in front 9-5 until RIT used a block from Sims and Appen and a Witteman ace to cut the lead to 9-8.
- Seven consecutive points, led by two Kaplan aces, a block from Medrano and Gutierrez and kills from McAusland and Kaplan put VC ahead 16-8.
- The lead expanded to 21-10 on two McAusland winners and a kill from Lovett.
- Four kills from Anna Wasula pulled RIT within 22-16 before the Brewers used a kill from Kaplan and back-to-back aces from senior Ellie Kogan gave Vassar a three-set victory.
For The Brewers
- McAusland tallied a match-high 13 kills (.370), seven digs and an ace while Kaplan recorded nine kills (.333), two aces, 12 digs and a block.
- Lovett added seven kills (.400) while Gutierrez and Feuer both buried five kills.
- Medrano finished with 30 assists, three aces and 12 digs while Kogan tallied two aces and five digs and Petro landed three aces.
For The Tigers
- Wasula garnered a team-high 12 kills, three digs and an ace while Appen tallied four winners.
- Sims registered two kills and a block along with a kill each from Katerina Spalova and Isabel Leon.
- Olivia Colling recorded 17 assists, two aces and four digs while Allison Walton lifted 10 digs and Isabelle Swain lifted nine digs.

First Set
- VC opened the match with a 6-2 lead after McAusland buried a kill and then recorded five consecutive service aces.
- The advantage ballooned to 11-4 behind a kill each from McAusland and Lovett and an ace from Petro.
- King's got back within 14-11 after two kills from Lindsay Arezina and a winner from Mia Campanile.
- The Brewers increased the lead back to 19-12 on a kill from McAusland and a block from Medrano and Feuer.
- The Monarchs got within 21-19 before Vassar used two McAusland winners and a block from Feuer and Medrano to take the opening set.
Second Set
- Vassar scored a 7-3 advantage to begin the second set on two kills from McAusland, one winner from Lovett, an ace from Kogan and a block from Lovett and Gutierrez.
- A four-point run from the Brewers on a kill and three aces from Kaplan pushed VC ahead 13-5.
- Two more aces from Kogan and a kill each from McAusland, Kaplan and Lovett increased the lead to 21-12.
- VC clinched the second set after two kills from Kaplan and one winner each from Gutierrez and McAusland.
Third Set
- The Brewers raced out to a 9-1 lead to start the final set as McAusland tallied three aces along with Lovett and Kaplan each burying a kill.
- VC expanded its advantage to 15-3 following two kills apiece from Kaplan and Lovett along with a block from Gutierrez and Lovett.
- Petro's ace pushed Vassar ahead 19-4 and an ace from Stern increased that advantage to 23-7.
- McAusland and Medrano each buried a kill to complete the sweep for Vassar.
For The Brewers
- McAusland garnered a match-high 15 kills (.478), eight aces and four digs along with Kaplan adding 10 winners, three aces, a block and eight digs.
- Lovett tallied seven kills and two blocks while Gutierrez chipped in four kills and three blocks.
- Medrano recorded 33 assists, two blocks and six digs along with Kogan tallying three aces and 11 digs.
For The Monarchs
- Bella Salvia finished with five kills, a block and four digs while Campanile, Arezina and Emma Bolich each added two kills.
- Theresa Lynch and Madisyn Heiser-Elsea both finished with a kill and two blocks.
- Ariela Towsey registered eight assists and four digs.
