Brewers Falter On The Road At Union

Vassar’s four-game unbeaten streak comes to an end

Schenectady, NY – The Vassar College Men's Soccer team saw its four-game unbeaten streak come to an end Wednesday night following a 1-0 road loss at league rival Union.
 
Wednesday's loss drops Vassar to 6-3-2 overall and 2-1-1 against league rivals, while Union improves to 4-4-3 overall and 1-1-2 in conference play.
 
How It Happened
  • The teams played a scoreless first half despite Vassar holding a 12-3 advantage in shots prior to halftime.
  • The Brewers took the only three corner kicks of the opening 45 minutes.
  • Union goalkeeper, Jacob Perry, kept Vassar off the board with five first half saves.
  • Coming out of halftime, the Garnet Chargers struck with the only goal of the game in the 57th minute.
  • Lucas Montalto found the back of the net at the 56:41 mark of the contest, burying a feed from Luke Ingber for what proved to be the game winning goal.
  • Vassar outshot Union 11-3 after halftime, but was unable to solve Perry who made four more stops in the second frame.
  • Perry's final stop came with just under four minutes left to play when he denied Mauricio Mejia (Miami, FL) of the tying goal.
  • Vassar added four more corner kicks after the break.
 
For The Brewers
  • Arden Tobolski (Chapel Hill, NC) led all players in the game with seven shots, including four on goal.
  • Zapp Hotz (Ridgewood, NY) and Jared Fiske (Livingston, NJ) each finished with four shots, putting one attempt on target.
  • Caden Clifton (Oviedo, FL) finished the night with three shots.
  • Quinn Davidson (Mamaroneck, NY) suffered the loss in goal with one save.
 
For The Garnet Chargers
  • Montalto scored for the second time in 2025 with each serving as a game winning goal.
  • Ingber picked up his second helper of the year, moving into a tie for the team lead in assists.
  • Perry recorded his second clean sheet of the season with a nine-save performance.
 
Game Statistics
  • Vassar finished with a commanding 23-6 advantage in shots, including a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal.
  • Vassar took the only seven corner kicks in the contest.
  • Fouls went against the Garnet Chargers, 15-9.
