Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Men's Soccer team continued its dominance at home in 2025 with a 2-0 Liberty League victory over St. Lawrence Saturday afternoon. Sophomore
Arden Tobolski (Chapel Hill, NC) and senior
Jared Fiske (Livingston, NJ) supplied the goals for the Brewers with
Patrick Gale (San Antonio, TX) and
Quinn Davidson (Mamaroneck, NY) combining on the shutout.
Vassar improves to 7-3-2 overall, including 6-0-1 at home, and 3-1-1 in conference play with Saturday's win with St. Lawrence dropping to 4-7-0 overall and 2-3-0 in conference play.
How It Happened
- Both of Vassar's goals came in the first half just under 20 minutes apart.
- Tobolski opened the scoring in the 16th minute scoring into an open goal after Isaac Taegar (Metuchen, NJ) worked a pass around the keeper at 15:17.
- The Brewers doubled their lead in the 35th minute when Fiske scored his team leading 10th goal of the season.
- Tobolski flipped a pass into the box that Fiske buried at the 34:51 mark to finish off the scoring in the game.
- Vassar finished the first half with an 8-1 advantage in shots and a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.
- Gale kept the Saints off the board with one save.
- St. Lawrence netminder, Zach Amato, made a trio of saves for the Saints.
- Coming out of halftime, St. Lawrence turned up the pressure and held Vassar without a shot in the second half.
- Gale turned aside two shots before exiting, a leaping save that he pushed over the bar in the 53rd minute and a save on the left post in the 61st minute.
- St. Lawrence had another good scoring chance in the 70th minute with Davidson making a kick save on a Ryan Campbell attempt inside the box.
- St. Lawrence finished the second half with a 9-0 advantage in shots and took the only two corner kicks after halftime.
- Gale and Davidson combined for five second half saves to preserve the shutout.
For The Brewers
- Tobolski finished a three-point game, his sixth game with at least three points this season, with his eighth goal and team leading 10th assist. Tobolski leads the team in points with 26 and added his team leading third game winning goal.
- Fiske pushed his team lead in goals to 10 with Saturday's second goal and sits in second on the team in points with 24.
- Taegar picked up his third helper of the season on the game winning goal.
- Fiske, Tobolski and Alejandro Martinez (Lake Mary, FL) each finished the day with two shots.
- Gale made his second start of the season and matched his career-high in saves with four in just under 61 minutes worth of work.
- Davidson came on to play the final 29:17 for the Brewers and turned aside two shots in the second half.
For The Saints
- Grant Gilmer led St. Lawerence with three shots, putting one attempt on target.
- Amato finished the day with three saves.
Game Statistics
- St. Lawrence recorded a 10-8 advantage in overall shots and outpaced the Brewers 6-5 in shots on goal.
- Corner kicks went to Vassar by a 7-4 count.
- Fouls in the contest were even at 9-9.
