Vassar Cruises Past RPI, 4-0

Brewers reach 12 wins for second straight season

Poughkeepsie, NY – First Year Ava Holman (St. Louis, MO) scored twice and senior Rebecca Rodriguez (Santa Barbara, CA) assisted on two goals as the Vassar College Women's Soccer team reached 12 wins for the second straight season with a dominant 4-0 home win over RPI Wednesday afternoon.
 
Vassar scored its 12th win for the second straight season and for the third time on record Wednesday, improving to 12-3 overall and 6-1 against Liberty League rivals. RPI falls to 5-6-3 overall and 1-3-2 against conference opponents.
 
How It Happened
  • Vassar broke open a scoreless game with a flurry of goals in the final seven minutes of the first half.
  • Holman opened the scoring with the eventual game winning goal after finishing off a pass from Rodriguez at the 37:54 mark of the contest.
  • Rodriguez assisted on her second goal of the game when Sonya Franklin (Lancaster, PA) gave Vassar a 2-0 advantage just 88 seconds after the Holman marker.
  • First Year Caroline Sheehan (Springfield, IL) sent the Brewers into the break with a three-goal lead when she curled home a shot from the top of the box with 55 seconds left in the half.
  • The Brewers controlled play in the opening 45 minutes, outshooting RPI 11-1 while adding a 10-0 edge in corner kicks.
  • Laura Shea (Swarthmore, PA) made one save prior to halftime to keep RPI off the board.
  • The lone goal of the second half came in the 70th minute when Holman tucked home her second of the game, finishing a cross from Lily Brigman (Mebane, NC) at the 69:29 mark of the game.
  • The Brewers closed the second stanza with a 9-3 edge in shots and took five more corner kicks after halftime.
  • Emily McMahon (Mill Valley, CA) made a pair of saves in the second frame for Vassar.
 
For The Brewers
  • Holman posted her third multiple goal game of the season and moved her team lead in goals to nine and points with 20. Holman also picked up her team leading fourth game winning goal of the season with the opening tally on Wednesday.
  • Rodriguez pushed her team lead in assists to eight with two helpers on Wednesday and stands with 12 points on the season.
  • Franklin scored for the seventh time in 2025 and moved into second place on the team in points with 16.
  • Sheehan found the back of the net for the third time.
  • Bridgman recorded her first point of the season on the Brewers' final goal of the contest.
  • Sheehan led the team in shots with five.
  • Franklin, Holman and Riley McGrath (Coronado, CA) each finished the win with three shots for the Brewers.
  • Shea earned the win in goal with one save in just over 55 minutes worth of work.
  • McMahon came on to match her career-high with two saves in the final 34:56.

  • Audrey Montero suffered the loss in goal with seven saves on Wednesday.
  • Four different Engineers registered a shot in the game.
