Jared Fiske (Livingston, NJ) scored twice and assisted on a third goal and sophomore
Arden Tobolski (Chapel Hill, NC) assisted on three goals as the Vassar College Men's Soccer teamed remained unbeaten at home on Wednesday with a 4-1 Liberty League victory over Bard.
Vassar improves to 5-2-2 overall, including 4-0-1 at Gordon Field, and 1-0-1 in conference play with Wednesday's win, while Bard slips to 7-3 overall and 0-2 in Liberty League action. The victory also moves Vassar to 25-0-1 against the Raptors since the start of the 1994 season.
How It Happened
- Vassar raced out to a 3-0 advantage inside the first 26 minutes of Wednesday's contest, scoring all three goals in just over 10 minutes.
- Fiske opened the scoring with his first of the game, finishing off Tobolski's initial assist of the game at the 15:13 mark.
- The lead grew to 2-0 when Fiske was on the end of passes from Tobolski and Otis Wildman (Tampa, FL) and blasted home his second of the game at 20:42.
- Just under five minutes after making it 2-0, First Year Zapp Hotz (Ridgewood, NY) tucked a centering pass from Tobolski inside the right post at 25:17 to give the Brewers a commanding three goal advantage.
- The Raptors would slice into their disadvantage and close out the scoring in the first half when Pablo Ortega buried a pass from Pape Davidson with 92 seconds left before halftime.
- Vassar carried a 3-1 lead into the break after outshooting Bard 8-2 in the opening stanza while adding a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
- The lone goal of the second half came in the 72nd minute when First Year Isaac Taegar (Metuchen, NJ) took a pass up the middle from Fiske and scored inside the left post at 71:36 to give the Brewers the final 4-1 advantage.
