Field Hockey Suffers Road Loss to Muhlenberg

Brewers will complete three game road trip against Ramapo on Wednesday

Allentown, PA - The Vassar College Field Hockey team hit the road for the second game of a three-game road trip on Friday evening as the Brewers fell 5-0 to Muhlenberg at Scotty Wood Field. Vassar's record moves to 2-5 overall while the Mules improve to 5-2 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Mules threatened in the opening minutes of the first quarter as junior Gianna Hoover made a defensive save on Erin DiSandro before Abba Digilio knocked home the rebound to make it 1-0 early.
  • DiSandro doubled the Muhlenberg lead two minutes into the second quarter on a penalty stroke goal.
  • Muhlenberg tallied its third goal of the evening with two minutes left in the half as Digilio tallied her second goal of the game on an assist from Danielle Kapsak.
  • Vassar had a strong chance halfway through the third quarter as first year Zoe Robinson's shot was saved by Mules goalkeeper Grace Leard.
  • Muhlenberg scored its fourth goal of the game with just under two minutes remaining in the third quarter on the second goal of the game from DiSandro on a second assist from Kapsak.
  • DiSandro completed the hat trick a minute and a half into the fourth quarter on a feed from Mikayla DiMichele.
FOR THE BREWERS
  • Robinson recorded a shot on goal along with first year Ella Martin registering a shot.
  • Sophomore Grace Wiley made two saves in goal for the Brewers while Hoover made her team-high fourth defensive save of the season.
FOR THE MULES
  • DiSandro finished with a hat trick with three goals while Digilio added two goals on the day.
  • Kapsak registered two assists along with DiMichele assisting on one goal.
  • Maddie Schwartz earned the victory in goal after playing the first 30 minutes along with Leard making one save in 30 minutes of action.
UP NEXT
  • Vassar will close its road trip against non-conference foe Ramapo on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
  • Muhlenberg opens Centennial conference play against Gettysburg on Saturday, September 28.
