Ithaca, NY – The #47 and third seeded Vassar College Men's Tennis team scored a convincing 5-0 win over sixth seeded Ithaca on Friday in the First Round of the Liberty League Championship, setting up a semifinal showdown with Hobart on Saturday. The Brewers won all three doubles matches on Friday and got singles triumphs from First Years

Henry Zhang (Zhengzhou, China) to clinch the victory.
Friday's victory improves Vassar to 13-5 overall on the season, while Ithaca's season comes to a close at 7-12.
Doubles
- Vassar jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the doubles competition on Friday, winning each of the three contests.
- The top pair of Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) and Lee got the Brewers on the board and improved to 3-1 on the season with an 8-4 triumph.
- Nolan Kubiak (Neenah, WI) and Zhang were paired together for the first time this season at second doubles and earned a hard fought 8-6 victory to give Vassar a 2-0 advantage.
- Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ) and Jay Wong (Hong Kong) gave the Brewers the doubles sweep with an 8-3 third doubles victory, improving the tandem to 4-1 on the year.
Singles
- Needing just two singles wins to clinch the victory, Vassar got them from Lee and Zhang on Friday.
- Lee continued a standout rookie season for the Brewers with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Ithaca's Carlos Hernandez at the fourth position. The victory improved Lee's record to 12-4 on the season, including a 3-1 mark at the fourth slot.
- Zhang clinched the win for Vassar at the sixth position, scoring a 6-0, 6-1 victory. The win moved Zhang 10-4 on the season and in the process became the third Brewer with at least 10 singles wins on the season.
- At the time the match concluded, Wong at the top flight, Benjamin Almquist (Union Pier, WI) at second singles and Kubiak at the fifth position were all leading their matches.
