Ithaca, NY – The #42 Vassar College Men's Tennis team moved its winning streak to three matches on Saturday following a 6-3 Liberty League road victory at Ithaca.
Jay Wong (Hong Kong) earned a seventh singles victory at the top flight for Vassar.
Saturday's win over the Bombers improves Vassar to 9-4 overall on the season and 3-1 in Liberty League matches, while Ithaca drops to 6-9 overall.
Doubles
- The Brewers had to rally after dropping two of the three doubles matches to the Bombers.
- The third pair of Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ) and Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) continued a strong season at third doubles, moving to 8-4 as a unit on the season.
Singles
- The Brewers won five of the six singles matches to clinch Saturday's victory.
- Wong won at the top flight and improved to 7-6 on the season with a 6-4, 6-4 victory for the Brewers.
- Arnav Agostinho (Brooklyn, NY) clinched the match for the Brewers after scoring a hard fought 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 victory at the sixth position.
- Benjamin Almquist (Union Pier, MI) evened his singles record at 5-5 and won for the third straight outing, outlasting Ithaca's Siddharth Vaada at the third position by scores of 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
- First Year Henry Zhang (Zhengzhou, China) won for the fourth straight matched and moved to 2-0 at the fourth slot with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph.
- Ethan Mantell (Hermosa Beach, CA) moved to 6-3 in singles play for the Brewers after posting a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the fifth position.
What's Next
- Vassar is right back in action on Sunday when it travels to RIT for a 10:00 a.m. match with the Tigers.
- Ithaca plays host to Bard Sunday morning.
