Baseball Falls In Series Finale at George Fox

Brewers will take on Whitman on Tuesday

NEWBERG, OR - The Vassar College Baseball team fell 6-2 in the series finale against George Fox on the road on Saturday afternoon. The Brewers' record moves to 1-4 overall while the Bruins improve to 9-5 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • George Fox scored the first run of the game in the fourth as Jeremy Sangalang drew a leadoff walk followed by one-out singles from Isaac Snyder and Blue Ellis. Sangalang later scored on a fielder's choice groundball from Shane McClendon.
  • Vassar answered with two runs in the fifth as senior Jaden Millstein doubled to lead off the inning and was moved to third on a sacrifice bunt from classmate Jack Silvera. Junior Daniel Laderman knocked Millstein in with a opposite field single and advanced to third on a single from first year Noah Stockman. Laderman crossed home plate on an error from George Fox to take a 2-1 lead.
  • The Bruins tied the game at two in the bottom of the fifth as Sangalang singled home Miller with an opposite field base hit.
  • George Fox pushed across the deciding four runs in the bottom of the seventh as Snyder drew a bases loaded walk followed by a two RBI double from McClendon to plate Ellis and Sangalang.
FOR THE BREWERS
  • Senior Reid Lapekas collected two hits while Silvera and Millstein each tallied an extra base hit.
  • Millstein and Laderman each had a run scored and Laderman had the lone RBI of the game.
  • Sophomore Addison Lee started on the mound and took a no-decision while tossing six innings and allowing four hits, two runs, three walks and struck out four.
  • Sophomore Cade Terada-Herzer took the loss in relief as he gave up two hits, four runs (one earned), two walks and struck out two in one inning.
FOR THE BRUINS
  • McClendon drove in three runs along with Sangalang reaching base four times and scoring two runs.
  • Ben Wills started for the Bruins and tossed five innings, giving up five hits, two runs (one earned) and struck out four.
  • Spencer Simon earned the win in relief as Ryder Edwards tossed two scoreless innings and struck out four to close the game.
UP NEXT
  • Vassar will continue its trip around the Pacific Northwest as they take on Whitman in a doubleheader on Tuesday.
  • George Fox will play host to UMass Boston on Wednesday afternoon.
