Brewers Open West Coast Trip With Victory At Cal Lutheran

Vassar takes on Occidental Tuesday afternoon

Thousand Oaks, CA – The #T-33 Vassar College Men's Tennis team opened its spring trip on the West Coast Monday afternoon with a 6-3 victory at Cal Lutheran. The Brewers won two of the three doubles matches and four of the six singles contests to secure the victory.
 
Monday's win improves Vassar to 2-1 overall on the season while Cal Lutheran slips to 5-2.
 
Doubles
  • The second doubles pair of Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) and Henry Zhang (Zhengzhou, China) were in action for the first time together this season and scored an 8-3 victory.
  • The third pair of Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) and Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ) moved to 1-1 as a team with an 8-5 victory.
 
Singles
  • At second singles, Jay Wong (Hong Kong) moved to an unbeaten 3-0 on the season after easing to a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
  • Lee was in action at the third position and moved to 2-1 on the season with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
  • Ethan Mantell (Hermosa Beach, CA) outlasted Cal Lutheran's Jake Anderson in a 4-6, 6-4, 10-2 decision at fifth singles.
  • Nolan Kubiak (Neenah, WI) won for the first time in singles play following a 6-4, 6-3 win at the sixth position on Monday.

  • Vassar heads to Los Angeles to take on #40 Occidental on Tuesday afternoon.
