Brewers Dominate Emerson, 18-5

12 different players finish with a point

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Men's Lacrosse team cruised to its second straight victory Saturday afternoon in an 18-5 triumph over visiting Emerson. 12 different Brewers finished with a point with Nate Johnson (Brentwood, TN) and Ian Zumpano (Towson, MD) netting hat tricks and Troy Santise (Washington Township, NJ) producing five points.
 
Vassar improves to 3-1 overall on the season with Saturday's win, while Emerson drops to 3-3 through its first six games of the campaign.
 
How It Happened
  • Vassar opened the game up early, scoring the first three goals of the contest.
  • After a Jack Burns goal brought the Lions to within 3-1, the Brewers closed the first quarter with the final four goals, including Johnson's first two of the game.
  • The Brewers scored the only four goals of the second frame, getting a goal and an assist from Santise, to carry a commanding 11-1 lead into halftime.
  • Vassar finished the first 30 minutes with a 28-10 advantage in shots.
  • The Brewers dominated face-offs prior to the break, winning 13 of the 14 contested in the first half.
  • Vassar also held a convincing edge in groundballs at the break at 24-9.
  • Emerson outscored Vassar 3-2 in the third frame to pull to within 13-4 with 15 minutes left to play.

  • Burns led the scoring attack with a hat trick.
  • Aedan Kiniry scored twice and picked up a groundball.
  • Grady Behrhorst recorded an assist, three caused turnovers and a groundball.
  • Malcolm McGrath was under siege in goal, making 17 saves to go along with three caused turnovers and four groundballs.
