McCusker scores victory at top singles flight

Swarthmore, PA – The Vassar College Women's Tennis team returned to action Saturday morning and battled hard in a tight 5-4 loss to #27 Mary Washington. Erin McCusker (Norton, MA), Iris Li (Palo Alto, CA) and Ananya Krishnan (Chesterbrook, PA) all scored singles wins for the Brewers.

Saturday's loss drops Vassar to 0-2 on the season, while Mary Washington improves to 2-0.

Doubles

The Brewers dropped two of the three doubles matches contested.
The third pair of Elyse Duley (Charlotte, NC) and Krishnan won their first match together of the spring with a tight 8-6 victory.

Singles

In singles play, McCusker picked up her first win of the spring with a 7-5, 6-2 triumph at the top position.
Li moved to 2-0 on the season with an impressive 6-2, 6-2 third singles victory.
Kirshnan also won for the first time this spring, scoring a 6-4, 6-1 victory at the fifth slot.
Duley was in action at the sixth position on Saturday and was outlasted in a hard fought 4-6, 6-2, 6-8 decision.

What's Next

Vassar heads to the West Coast and opens the spring break trip against Westmont on March 2.
