Brewers Dim Lasers, 17-8

Santise posts eight points in victory

Newton, MA – Led by eight points from senior Troy Santise (Washington Township, NJ) and 10 saves in goal from junior Drew Quinn (Garden City, NY), the Vassar College Men's Lacrosse team opened the 2024 season with an impressive 17-8 road victory at Lasell Wednesday afternoon.

Wednesday's victory pushes Vassar to 1-0 on the season, while the Lasers drop their season opener and fall to 0-1.
 
How It Happened
  • Vassar never trailed in the contest after opening the contest with the first six goals, all coming in the opening 15 minutes.
  • Santise opened the scoring just 2:32 into the tilt with his first of the game and rounded out the opening 15 minutes with two goals and an assist.
  • The two sides split six goals in the second frame, sending Vassar into the intermission holding a 9-3 advantage.
  • Dylan McFarland (Hickory, NC), TJ Carl (Rochester, NY) and Eli Sherman (San Francisco, CA) supplied the second period goals for the Brewers.
  • Vassar finished the first half with a commanding 28-13 advantage in shots and won 10 of the 11 face-offs contested.
  • Quinn closed the first half with four stops for the Brewers.
  • Vassar used a five-goal run in the second half to open a 14-4 lead on an Ian Zumpano (Towson, MD) man-up goal.
  • Lasell would never climb closer than the final nine goal deficit with First Year Gavin Arcuri (Westhampton, NY) closing out the scoring in the game late in regulation time.
 
For The Brewers
  • Santise finished the tilt with two goals and six helpers to lead all players with eight points in the contest.

  • Zumpano closed a four-point game with two goals and two assists.
  • Arcuri potted two goals and totaled three points in his Vassar debut.

  • Landon Reyes led the way with two goals and three points.
  • Adam Haytayan tallied twice.
  • Jason Martin assisted on two goals.
  • Matthew Carbone and Francis Pino each picked up five groundballs.
  • Michael Catalano was busy in goal for Lasell, making 20 saves in the contest.
