Vassar Topped At Home By Connecticut College, Haverford

Brewers travel to Middlebury Dec. 7

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Men's Squash team returned to Keyon Hall Saturday afternoon and was upended by Connecticut College and Haverford by 8-1 scores. Vassar rounds out the semester on December 7 when it travels to Middlebury.
 
Saturday's results drop Vassar back to the .500 mark at 4-4 overall.
 
Connecticut College 8 – Vassar 1
  • Razaan Lalji (West Vancouver, BC) scored the Brewers' lone win playing at seven against the Camels. Lalji went the distance rallying from a 0-2 deficit to score a 4-11, 11-13, 11-4, 11-4, 11-6 victory.
  • Will Knauss (Buffalo, NY) also went the distance while playing at nine. Knauss also rallied from an 0-2 hole to knot the score at 2-2 before ultimately falling in a tight 7-11, 10-12, 11-7, 12-10, 8-11 decision.
  • Jarid Haslinger (Los Angeles, CA) battled in an 11-7, 6-11, 2-11, 5-11 decision at two for the Brewers.
  • First Year Matthew Okulski (Portland, ME) was topped in four frames, competing hard in a 3-11, 10-12, 11-8, 5-11 defeat at four.
  • Daniel Smith (Littleton, CO) also turned in a strong effort for Vassar in a  9-11, 11-9, 4-11, 5-11 defeat at eight.
 
Haverford 8 – Vassar 1
  • Lalji moved up to six against the Fords and won for the second time on Saturday. Lalji went the distance once again, outlasting Haverford's Garrett Fantini 11-9, 6-11, 11-6, 11-13, 11-6 in a back-and-forth affair.
  • Kyle Benson (Bronx, NY) dropped a five-set heartbreaker at three in a hard fought 11-4, 11-7, 7-11, 5-11, 7-11 decision.
  • Okulski turned in another strong effort at four against the Fords, suffering a 9-11, 11-9, 7-11, 4-11 defeat.
  • Joseph Donato (Staten Island, NY) also suffered a tight 3-2 loss while playing at nine. Donato was edged in an 11-4, 4-11, 1-11, 11-9, 9-11 decision.

  • Vassar closes out the semester with a trip to Middlebury on December 7.
