Benson, Looby score wins for Vassar

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Men's Squash team returned to action in Kenyon Hall on Saturday, suffering a 7-2 defeat at the hands of Hobart. Kyle Benson (Bronx, NY) and Patrick Looby (Westport, CT) earned the victories for the Brewers.

Saturday's defeat drops Vassar to 4-7 overall on the season.

Playing at seven on Saturday, Looby outlasted Hobart's Sayf Elhawary in four, taking the match by scores of 11-5, 8-11, 11-2 and 12-10.
Benson also had a strong showing on Saturday, picking up a win at eight, also in four. After dropping the first set 6-11, Benson rebounded to take the next three by scores of 11-9, 11-5 and 12-10.
First Year Gabriel Lugo (East Hartford, CT) battled hard in a four-set loss at nine on Saturday. After dropping the first set 7-11, Lugo rebounded for an 11-5 victory. Hobart's Alexis Rios held of Lugo in the third 14-12 before taking a 11-6 decision in the deciding frame.
Playing at one, Rithik Jalali (Dubai, UAE) battled hard in a 7-11, 4-11, 4-11 defeat.
First Year Jay Vashisht (Short Hills, NJ) was edged by Hobart's Omar Kiwan 7-11, 7-11, 2-11 at two.
Konstantinos Georgallides (Limassol, Cypress) battled Hobart's Javier De La Vega in a 3-11, 7-11, 6-11 decision.
Razaan Lalji (West Vancouver, BC) was in action at five and pushed Hobart's Matthew Aldana in a 9-11, 5-11, 5-11 decision.
Jarid Haslinger (Los Angeles, CA) suffered a hard fought 8-11, 8-11, 7-11 loss at six for the Brewers.

What's Next

Vassar closes out the regular season next weekend when it travels to Haverford to take on the host Fords and Bucknell.
