Keker’s Hat Trick Powers Vassar Past Mount Saint Mary

Eight Brewers finish with a point

Poughkeepsie, NY – Junior Duncan Keker (Oakland, CA) led eight different players with a point and finished with a hat trick as the Vassar College Men's Soccer team scored its first win of the season with a resounding 8-0 triumph over Mount Saint Mary Sunday afternoon.
 
Sunday's victory improves Vassar to 1-1 overall on the season and 28-1-2 all-time against the Knights. Mount Saint Mary drops to 0-2 through its first two contests of the season.
 
How It Happened
  • Vassar got all the scoring it would need in the fifth minute when Jared Fiske (Livingston, NJ) finished off the eventual game winning goal at the 4:54 mark of the tilt. Fiske buried a feed from Kyle Lopes (El Dorado Hills, CA) to give the Brewers the early one goal advantage.
  • Vassar would carry the 1-0 advantage into the intermission despite outshooting Mount Saint Mary 9-1 in the opening 45 minutes.
  • Coming out of the break, the Brewers tallied twice in the first two minutes of the second half to open a 3-0 advantage.
  • Keker scored back-to-back goals, the first just 30 seconds into the second half followed by the second at the 46:57 mark of the match off an assist from Kinlay Watkins (Berkely, CA).
  • Watkins found the scoring column for the first time this season in the 62nd minute, finishing off Nolan Alexander's (New York NY) first assist of the year.
  • Keker tallied again just 29 seconds after Watkins' goal to complete the hat trick and move Vassar in front 5-0.
  • Diego Pastor-Valverde (Durham, NC) scored Vassar's next two goals just over a minute apart with Eli Torrey (Philadelphia, PA) collecting the assist on the first marker.
  • Koray Tekin (Winter Park, FL) assisted on Pastor-Valverde's second goal and tallied for the first time as a collegiate player in the final minute to close out the scoring in the game.
 
For The Brewers
  • Keker totaled six points and joined Pastor-Valverde with a team-high six shots in the game.
  • Pastor-Valderde rounded out the win with two tallies and an assist.
  • Tekin and Watkins each closed the day with a goal and an assist for the Brewers.
  • Fiske picked up the game winning goal and finished with five shots in the game, including four on goal.
  • Lopes assisted on a pair of goals.
  • Aidan Wisherd (Bedford, NH) made the start in goal and earned the victory, combining on a shutout with Jacob Raphan (Oceanside, NY). Each keeper made a save in the tilt for the Brewers.
 
For The Knights
  • J.C. Lopez paced the team with three shots, including one on goal.
  • Liam Hughes recorded a pair of attempts for the visitors.
  • Caesar Martinez closed the afternoon with nine saves in goal for the Knights.

  • Vassar closed the day with a 34-6 advantage in shots, including 18-2 in shots on goal.
  • Corner kicks went to the Brewers, 5-2.
  • Fouls went against Vassar on the day, 15-7.
