McCusker, Top Doubles Pair Reach Finals At ITA Northeast Regional

McCusker and Shen drop tightly contested doubles final

Geneva, NY – Erin McCusker (Norton, MA) and Sofie Shen (New York, NY), who each earned Liberty League Weekly Awards earlier on Monday, closed out play in the ITA Northeast Regional Monday afternoon. McCusker fell in the final of the singles draw and joined Shen in a hard fought battle in the doubles championship.

Doubles

After winning four matches over the first two days of the championship, the duo dropped an incredible decision in the final.
The second seed in the doubles draw was edged by Dakota Fordham and Isabella Hartmann from NYU in the final by scores of 7-6 (7-3), 6-7 (2-7), 10-8.

Singles

McCusker, who was named the Liberty League Singles Performer of the Week, finished the reginal tournament with a 5-1 record.
McCusker moved into the Championship Final after posting a 6-1, 6-4 semifinal victory over Josephine Libby from Rochester, the top seed in the singles draw.
In the final, McCusker battled hard in a 6-2, 6-2 defeat to Jimena Menedez from NYU.

What's Next

Monday's event concludes the fall season for Vassar who will return to action on February 23 at Swarthmore.
