Brewers Continue Strong Play At ITA Northeast Regional

McCusker reaches semifinals of singles draw

Geneva, NY – A pair of Vassar College Women's Tennis standouts will have a chance at ITA Northeast Regional crowns following strong outings on Sunday. Erin McCusker (Norton, MA) reached the semifinals of the singles draw and joins Sofie Shen (New York, NY) in the final of the doubles draw.

Doubles

After winning a pair of matches on Saturday, McCusker and Shen posted two more triumphs on Sunday. The second seed in the draw earned an 8-4 quarterfinal win over their opponent from Skidmore before reaching the final with a hard fought 8-7 (6) semifinal win over TCNJ.
McCusker and Shen will be in action again on Monday when they vie for the Regional title against opponents from NYU.

Singles

McCusker continued her trek through the singles draw on Sunday with a pair of victories for the Brewers.
McCusker opened the day with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Grace Truong from Skidmore to reach the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinal match, McCusker toppled Angelica Aksdal-Jansen from St. Lawrence 7-5, 6-2 to earn a spot in the Final Four of the singles draw.

What's Next

McCusker will be in action on Monday against top seed Josephine Libby from Rochester in one of the two semifinal matches.
McCusker and Shen will take on Dakota Fordham and Isabella Hartman from NYU for the Regional title.
