Waltham, MA – The Vassar College Men's Soccer team completed a 2-0 road win at Brandies Thursday night, finishing a game started on September 9 and halted due to Lightning. The goals in the game, that were scored 12 days ago, came just 10 seconds apart and goalkeeper
Vasilis Ganasoulis (Glen Head, NY) earned his first career shutout.
With the completion of the game on Thursday, Vassar wins its second straight contest and improves to 4-2-1 overall on the season. Brandies falls to 1-4-2 through its first seven games of the season.
How It Happened
- Vassar broke open a scoreless game late in the first half when Owen Fauth (Keane, NH) and Eli Torrey (Philadelphia, PA) scored just 10 seconds apart in the 33rd minute.
- Fauth scored what proved to be the game winner when he corralled a turnover and beat the Brandies keeper at 32:14.
- Off the ensuing kick-off, Torrey collected another turnover by the Judges and buried his first career goal at 32:24.
- Vassar was outshot in the opening 45 minutes 8-6 with Brandies taking the only two corner kicks of the first half.
- Coming out of halftime, the game was halted at the 53:11 mark due to storms and lightning in the area.
- The two teams resumed the game on Thursday night with the two sides playing a scoreless second half.
- Brandies outshot Vassar 5-2 in the second half, with Ganasoulis turning aside two shots in the middle stages of the stanza.
- The Brewers were held to a single corner kick, with the Judges taking two after the break.
- Ganasoulis made the two saves in the second half to preserve the shutout.

- Fauth scored what proved to be his team leading fifth goal of the season, collecting his first game winning goal of the year. Fauth pushed his team lead in points to 12.
