Field Hockey Drops Road Match at Scranton

Narleski scores both goals for the Brewers

SCRANTON, PA - The Vassar College Field Hockey team hit the road for the first time in two weeks on Thursday night as the Brewers fell 4-2 to the University of Scranton. Senior Jaclyn Narleski scored both goals for the Brewers as Vassar falls to 5-2 overall while the Royals improve to 6-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Scranton threatened early with a shot from Katie Redding just 49 seconds in but senior goalkeeper Sarah Dumaresq turned away the shot to keep the game scoreless.
  • Following Vassar's first penalty corner of the game, Narleski put the Brewers on the board as she deflected in a pass from classmate Hailey Brigger at the 6:43 mark of the opening quarter.
  • The Brewers earned a penalty corner three minutes into the second quarter as Narleski knocked home her second goal of the game to take a 2-0 lead.
  • The Royals answered with a goal from Redding off an assist from Reagan Dolan off a corner to cut it to 2-1 with 11 minutes left in the first half.
  • Scranton earned three penalty corners quickly in the third quarter as sophomore Gianna Hoover registered a defensive save and Dumaresq made another save to keep the Vassar 2-1 lead.
  • The Royals tied it at two following Redding's second goal on a feed from Bridget Abraldes with seven minutes left in the third quarter.
  • With seven minutes left in the fourth quarter, Annie Shaw scored her first goal on the second assist from Dolan to give Scranton its first lead of the game at 3-2.
  • Redding posted a hat trick for Scranton with just over three minutes left to push its lead to two.
FOR THE BREWERS
  • Narleski tallied her fifth and sixth goals of the season and is now tied for the team lead in goals. Brigger recorded her team-leading fourth assist of the season.
  • Senior Tori Baker registered two shots on goal along with Hoover making a defensive save.
  • Dumaresq made three saves in net in the loss for the Brewers.
FOR THE ROYALS
  • Redding scored three goals for Scranton and had a team-high six shots on goal while Shaw added a goal and an assist.
  • Dolan recorded two assists along with Abraldes adding one helper.
  • Gianna Travia earned the win in goal as she made two saves.
MATCH STATISTICS
  • Scranton held the edge in shots at 10-7 and shots on goal at 8-4.
  • The Royals also held the advantage in penalty corners at 8-3

  • Vassar returns home to take on #23 MIT on Sunday afternoon.
  • Scranton will take on Landmark Conference foe Elizabethtown on Saturday.
