Brewers Score Road Win At Drew

Fauth, Fiske each finish with three points

Madison, NJ  - Owen Fauth (Keane, NH) and Jared Fiske (Livingston, NJ) each scored a goal and assisted on another and Vasilis Ganasoulis (Glen Head, NY) earned his first career win in goal as the Vassar College Men's Soccer team earned a tough 2-1 road victory at Drew Wednesday night.
 
Wednesday's win pushes Vassar to 3-2-1 overall on the season and gives it its third straight win in the head-to-head series with Drew. The Rangers slip to 3-2-2 through seven contests in 2023.
 
How It Happened
  • A tightly contested first half ended scoreless with Vassar holding a 3-1 advantage in shots.
  • The Brewers took three of the four first half corner kicks.
  • Coming out of halftime, Drew opened the scoring in the 57th minute when Ethan Steinbiss buried a leaping one timer from Gabe Di Pierro at 56:18 for his first goal of the campaign.
  • Trailing by a goal, Fauth got the game even with his fourth tally of the year when he buried a feed from Fiske at 63:03.
  • The game remained deadlocked at a goal apiece until the late stages of regulation when Fiske found the game winner in the 86th minute. Fauth started a pass from the left that Fiske deposited for his fourth of the season at 85:13.
  • Drew finished the second half with a 6-5 edge in shots.
  • Second half corner kicks went to the Brewers by a 3-2 count.
  • Ganasoulis made a pair of saves to hold off the Rangers.
 
For The Brewers
  • Fauth moved into a three-way tied for first on the team with his fourth goal and took possession of the team lead in points with 10 on the season.
  • Fiske joins Fauth and Duncan Keker (Oakland, CA) with a team-high four goals on the season and picked up his team leading second deciding goal of the year. With three points in the game, Fiske ranks second on the team with nine points.
  • Fauth, Fiske and Jackson Allen (Chapel Hill, NC) all led the team with two shots in the contest with Fiske putting both of his attempts on target.
  • Ganasoulis earned his first career win, turning aside two shots for the Brewers. In three starts this season, Ganasoulis holds a 1.00 goals against average and a .786 save percentage.
 
For The Rangers
  • Steinbiss scored his first goal of the season for Drew.
  • Di Pierro, also a reserve in the game, recorded the helper on the team's lone goal.
  • Kevin Kiernan led all players with five shots, putting two on goal.
  • Jacob Avni suffered the loss in goal, making two saves for the Rangers.
 
Match Statistics
  • Vassar finished with a slim 8-7 advantage in shots, including a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal.
  • The Brewers doubled up the Rangers in corner kicks, 6-3.
