Field Hockey Stuns #12 Kean

Narleski scores game-winning goal in the third quarter

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Vassar College Field Hockey team earned its third straight victory on Tuesday evening as the Brewers took down #12 Kean, 1-0, at Weinberg Field. The Brewers improve to 5-1 overall while the Cougars fall to 5-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cougars had the first strong chance in the opening quarter as Laura Stump's shot was saved following a penalty corner from Vassar goalkeeper Sarah Dumaresq.
  • Kean put another shot on goal before the end of the first half as Madison Brege's shot was turned away from Dumaresq as the half ended in a scoreless tie.
  • Following a penalty corner insert from senior Jaclyn Narleski, classmate Hailey Brigger put a shot on net as Narleski's stick deflected it past the Cougars goalkeeper to take a 1-0 lead at the seven and a half minute mark of the third quarter.
  • Kean earned four penalty corners in the final 15 minutes but were unable to get a shot to the net as Vassar clinched the victory over the 12th-ranked Cougars.
