After a pitcher's duel broke out in the first four innings, Vassar got on the board first as sophomore
Birch Herring-Jackson led off the fifth with single and was followed by a single from classmate
Ricardo Reyna to put runners at first and second with no outs. Following a sacrifice bunt from sophomore

Adam Talwalkar knocked in Herring-Jackson with sac fly and junior
Reid Lapekas scored two on a double to right to give the Brewers a 3-0 lead.
Skidmore answered with two runs in the sixth as Brendan O'Neill was hit by a pitch and Anthony Mollica and Anthony Peterson were walked to load the bases with two outs. Jackson Hornung drove in two runs with a single through the right side to cut the lead to 3-2.
The Thoroughbreds took the lead in the seventh as Max Mello singled to right to lead off the inning and O'Neill reached on a throwing error before Peterson lifted a three-run homer to left field to take a 5-3 lead after seven innings.
In the ninth, sophomore Jaden MIllstein laced a pinch hit leadoff single to left and a one-out single from Reyna put runners on the corners. A RBI groundout from freshman
Jensen Bergman cut the lead to one before Talwalkar tied the game at five on single to right field. Skidmore threatened in the bottom half of the ninth as Zachary Leiderman led off with a pinch hit single and following two intentional walks with one out, senior
Bryce Grathwohl induced a line drive double play to escape the damage and send it to extras.
Vassar loaded the bases with two outs in the 10th before Skidmore reliever Christian Giresi tallied a big strikeout to escape the threat. The Thoroughbreds then had Danny Melillo reach on an one-out hit by pitch and then stole second. Hornung came through for Skidmore and singled through the middle to score Melillo to walk it off in the bottom of the 10th.
Senior
Ryan Harris took the start for Vassar as he threw five innings, allowing three hits, four walks and struck out three. Senior
Frankie Murphy tossed 1.1 scoreless innings in relief and struck out one while Grathwohl took the loss as he threw 1.1 innings and allowed one hit, one run, two walks and struck out one.
Ameer Hasan started on the mound for Skidmore as he threw seven innings, allowing nine hits, three runs, one walk and struck out four. Giresi earned the win for the Thoroughbreds as he tossed 1.2 innings, allowing two hits, no runs, three walks and struck out one.
Reyna and Lapekas each finished with three hits while Talwalkar and Lapekas each drove in two runs. Talwalkar and junior
Ty Murray each tallied two hits for the Brewers. Hornung recorded three hits and three RBI while Peterson tallied three RBI for the Thoroughbreds.
Vassar continues its three game set with Skidmore tomorrow afternoon with a doubleheader at Prentiss Field beginning at 12:00 p.m.
