Maddy Kretten tallied her 100th career point on Saturday as the Vassar College Women's Lacrosse team earned a hard-fought 12-11 victory over St. Lawrence on Senior Day at Weinberg Field. The Brewers improved to 8-5 overall and 5-4 in Liberty League play while the Saints move to 7-6 overall and 6-3 in conference action.
Charlotte Powell opened up the scoring for St. Lawrence at the 12:42 mark before Vassar scored five straight goals to close the first quarter. Senior

Lola Wright and Kretten each scored a goal followed by back-to-back tallies from sophomore
Emma Torkelson to take a 5-1 lead after one.
The Saints responded with five straight goals of their own as Powell scored three goals along with two goals from Jacqui Cloutier to take a 6-5 lead with 5:11 to go in the half. Sanseviro tied the game at six on an assist from senior
Annie Uyeki before Torkelson scored her third goal of the game on a feed from Kretten for her 100th career point to give Vassar a 7-6 lead at the half.
Torkelson scored again to open the third quarter to push the lead to two before Powell and Bella Hillman scored consecutive goals to tie the score at eight with 6:13 remaining. Sophomore
Reilly Mulcahy pushed Vassar ahead to close the third quarter on an assist from Uyeki to take a 9-8 lead.
St. Lawrence took a one-goal lead following goals from Dana Fernandez and Powell with 10:43 to go before Sanseviro tied it at 10 about 30 seconds later. Freshman
Tess Billings and Mulachy scored back-to-back to go ahead by two with 5:32 to go. Fernandez scored her second goal of the game with 4:48 remaining but the Vassar defense held strong as the Brewers earned a 12-11 victory.
Torkelson finished a big day for Vassar as she had four goals, two assists, two draw controls, two caused turnovers and a ground ball. Sanseviro added four points while Mulcahy scored two goals. Uyeki dished out five assists along with junior
Livia Shine picking up a team-high four ground balls. Senior
Trina Chou tallied three caused turnovers and two ground balls and rookie
Catherine Peacock collected a team-best eight draw controls. Junior
Lauren Johns recorded the win in goal for Vassar as she made 13 saves.
Powell scored six goals for the Saints along with two ground balls, a caused turnover and a draw control. Fernandez and Cloutier each scored two goals while Cloutier had six draw controls and two ground balls. Haley Sundstrom and Maggie Green each had two caused turnovers and Liz Evans collected three draw controls. Raelynn Bovenzi took the loss in goal for St. Lawrence as she made six saves.
Vassar will return to action for the regular season finale against William Smith on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Weinberg Field.
