POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Vassar College Baseball team dropped a pitcher's duel against SUNY Oneonta on Sunday afternoon in a 2-0 loss. The Brewers move to 13-7 overall while the Red Dragons improve to 16-4 overall on the season.
In the first inning, Liam Kaseta drew a one-out walk followed by Jake Barrett reaching on a VC error before Nate Guillen lifted a fly ball to center field and it fell to score Kaseta to take a 1-0 lead.
The Red Dragons pushed across its second run of the game on a wild pitch that was scored by Bradley Turner in the top of the second.Â
Vassar's best chance came in the seventh as sophomore
Ricardo Reyna singled up the middle followed by a two-out from senior
Andrew Kanellis before Oneonta starter Devin Rooney escaped a jam with a strikeout to end the threat.
Sophomore
Luke Barrientos took the hard luck loss as he threw two innings, allowing one hit, two runs (zero earned), one walk and two strikeouts. Freshman
Addison Lee tossed five scoreless innings in relief, allowing just five hits and struck out five. Sophomore
Collin Donnelly and senior
Zach Magee combined for two scoreless innings out of the pen with two strikeouts.
Rooney earned his fourth win of the season as he went seven innings and gave up six hits, two walks and struck out four. Tom Roefaro earned the save in relief as he tossed two scoreless innings and struck out one.

Christian Baaki and Reyna each tallied a hit for Vassar. Josh Gilkey and Foglia each recorded twi hits while Kaseta and Turner each had a run scored for Oneonta.
The Brewers return to action at Prentiss Field on Wednesday evening against Mount Saint Mary College at 4:00 p.m.
