WHITTIER, C.A. - The Vassar College Women's Tennis team began its California Spring Break trip on Monday afternoon as the Brewers completed a 9-0 sweep against Whittier College. The Brewers improve to 4-2 overall on the season while the Poets fall to 0-7.
In doubles action, junior
Sofie Shen and rookie
Erin McCusker defeated Jasmine Saunders and Emily List 8-1 at the top flight followed by sophomore
Macey Dowd and freshman
Iris Li picking up a 8-2 victory over Maci Davis and Keeley Arendt at two. Senior
Tatum Blalock and sophomore
Elyse Duley completed the doubles sweep with a 8-4 win over Malvika Suryavanshi and Manasvi Vardham.
Freshman
Ananya Krishnan tallied at singles win at six with a 6-0, 6-0 decision over List while Li defeated Davis 6-1, 5-0 (ret.) at fourth singles. Two saw Blalock record a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Suryavanshi and McCusker earned the win at the top flight with a 6-1, 6-4 mark against Saunders. Dowd completed a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at three over Arendt while Shen completed the 9-0 sweep with a hard-fought 3-6, 6-2, 10-3 win against Vardham at five.
Vassar will travel to Los Angeles tomorrow for a 4:00 p.m. (PST) match against Occidental.
