POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – A balanced scoring attack, led by goals from 10 different players, lifted the Vassar College men's lacrosse team to a 13-5 victory over Lasell University on Saturday on Weinberg Turf. The Brewers move to 3-1 on the season with the victory, while the Lasers are now 0-2 overall.
The Brewers opened the scoring early in the first quarter as a behind-the-back tally by senior attacker
Riley Olds went past the Lasers keeper at 12:59. Vassar pushed the advantage to 2-0 less than a minute later as junior defender
Solomon Hess caught a deep pass from senior midfielder
James Nicholas just before the Lasell zone. Carrying it in, he buried it low for the score at 12:04.
The visitors finally broke through at the 11:32 mark as David Burke fired one in past the reach of VC goalie
Jack Bagin, but the momentum swung back in the favor of the home team as Vassar fired off five straight goals over the final 10:47 of the frame for the 7-1 advantage. Junior attack
Troy Santise got the rally going at 10:47, later assisting on the Brewers fourth goal by sophomore attack
Shane O'Hara minutes later. Olds wrapped up the run for Vassar with his second of the contest at 1:04.
In the second stanza, the Brewers continued to power on, opening the margin to seven (8-1) as Hess fed the ball to Santise for his second of the game at 9:09. Vassar then made it a 9-1 contest as rookie attack

Dan Negron with 3:26. The home team nearly got another before halftime as freshman attacker Hayden Stolzfoos fired in a shot, but Lasell's Michael Catalano made the stop to send it into break with Vassar up by eight (9-1).
Third quarter action opened with a Vassar goal as rookie midfielder
Nate Johnson connected on a pass from Santise at the 10:55 mark, but the Lasers countered with three goals. Casey Hart got things going, netting the second goal for the visitors at 10:52, while tallies from Anthony DeRosa and Burke in the final 11 seconds of the quarter made it a 10-4 margin in favor of the Brewers.
Johnson tallied once more to get things going in the fourth quarter, sending a scorching shot down the middle on the man-up off a give-and-go pass from junior attack

Henry Richard made it an eight-goal margin at the 3:15 mark.
Lasell got a final tally with 2:35 to go from Will McCarthy as Zumpano made it a 13-5 final with his marker from Johnson at 1:23.
Santise paced the Brewers offensively on the day, notching two goals with two assists, adding a ground ball. Johnson had two goals with a helper, while Olds fired in two goals with four ground balls. Negron, Hess and Zumpano each notched a goal and an assist. The Brewers also saw goals from rookie midfielder
Anderson Eads and Richard.
In goal, Bagin earned the win for the Brewers, recording five saves over 30:00 of action. Senior
Aidan Gallagher came on in relief for the final 30 minutes, making four stops.
Lasell was led by Burke with two goals and a game-high eight ground balls. McCarthy, DeRosa and Hart added the other tallies, while Matthew Carbone went 14-19 from the faceoff circle, also notching a game-best eight ground balls. Catalano shouldered the loss in goal for the Lasers, recording 19 saves.
Vassar returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to Emerson College for a 6pm game against the Lions. The Brewers return home once more next Saturday, welcoming Wheaton College at 1pm.
